A new Trader Joe's is set to open in Newport News tomorrow. We got a flyer in the mail today and it's certainly a unique one. Has anyone been there? Can you tell me about it? How are the prices? It looks like it could be a fun way to kill a couple hours even if I'm not planning to spend a lot.

We have them by us, and DH & I LOVE TJ's. They have a lot of really unique items and the prices are very reasonable. They also have a pretty good wine selection with low prices. The nearest one to us is about 5 miles away, but unfortunately we don't get the flier anymore since we moved across town.

I go to TJ's to get unique food items. Most of their stuff is reasonably priced. They're known for their "2 buck Chuck" wine. They buy these huge lots of cheap, but good wine and sell it really cheap. They have great baked items, produce, prepared salads, frozen foods - including great fish. I'm in there at least every-other week.

Trader Joes is my favorite.

It's 3 buck Chuck in Virginia, though. Good stuff for 3 bucks.

Oh I miss Trader Joe's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had one right down the street from us in Burbank. They used to have the best butter toffee peanuts. Yum!!! I would buy alot of my gift basket items there because the stuff is reasonably priced and you can get unusual/unique items. Lucky you!! It's a fun place, you'll like it.

3 bucks here too. Still not a bad price.

I love their salted pita chips! We also enjoy "2 buck chuck" merlot. The Shiraz was just o.k.

Wish I had one closer to us! The nearest one is 3 hours away.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Trader Joe's!

I also like Trader Joes. I like a lot of their frozen food. We're vegetarian and they have a good selection of vegie items, and also seem to have a lot of meat items. Their produce section isnt' great, but there is a wide variety of many other things. I love their macadamia carmel corn.

love trader joes. It's a 35 minute drive but I do it every 5-6 weeks to get some things I can't get anywhere else.

Is there one in Frederick? I try to make it up there every month or so to go to Costco and whatever other stores I need that are there. I have stools that I need to pick up this weekend, as a matter of fact.

Funny thing happened last night--I picked up my new van in Hagerstown and then we stopped for a quick bite at a Taco Bell in Frederick (hey, we were hungry :teeth: ). Everybody in that restaurant was so loud. All the people! I told my DH, "that's why they call this Fredneck". :rotfl: And with 4 kids, 2 dogs, and 4 cats, we're used to noise and chaos, but I've never seen, or should I say heard, such a loud Taco Bell. So is everyone loud in Frederick? LOL

Love Trader Joes!

I loved their romaine leaves, red leaf lettuce leaves, stuffed salmon, edamame, sushi, hearts of palms and artichoke salad and so much other stuff.

Their cheeses are amazing and reasonably priced. One of the best things is they will take back anything if you don't like it.

I miss Trader Joe's too! I probably shopped at the SAME TJs as you! Although most of my shopping was at the Van Nuys shop. :cool1:

The best buys are the TJ's brand Truffles. Pear flavor - although they don't really taste like pear - just wonderful luscious chocolate!!!

Also the fresh, pre-packaged salads, especially the one with walnuts & gorgonzola cheese.

They have great frozen tamales at a reasonable price!

The frozen enchiladas were good too.

TJ's has their own brand of Whey Protein Powder that is 1/3 off other brands.

And you can get the cardboard cat scratchers cheaper than from pet stores. :cat:

That's good to know. I'll have to see if our TJ's has them.

I can live with the Florida heat, hurricanes, snakes and bugs but I can not live without a Trader Joes down here! I miss TJ's so much. I have been up north twice in the last year and brought an empty suitcase just to fill with TJ's food.

I drive over 40 minutes once a month to stock up on certain items you can only get at TJs. Their dried fruit and nut selection is amazing, and the prices are fantastic. They also have great coffee beans.

I was on a plane the other day and this article about them was in the airline magazine: http://www.attachemag.com/ (click The Brief to get to the article). I was psyched to learn more about the company.

Except for their wine section I find their food to be too different for my tastes. I know most other people like it. I just am a plain jane foodie though.

We're vegetarian and try our best to do as much organic as possible. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Trader Joe's. Prices are very reasonable. DH calls it an upscale Aldi's. :)

I love Trader Joes. The place makes me sooooo happy. The have a great selection of food, and the frozen stuff is the best I have ever had.

And they will give your kid a balloon.
