Traded into DVC from RCI, using QS DDP. Do we all need same park passes?

We traded into DVC using our RCI week. We will all be getting the QS DDP and will have 8 days in the parks. My question is this--I have 5 one-day hoppers that were comped to me on a prior trip (These are not upgradable I assume). I will have to purchase a 3-day hopper to supplement those days and will have to purchase 8-day hoppers for my kids. Is this allowed? Or do we all have to purchase the same duration hoppers?
We're not booking a package so does the rule still apply that everyone in the room has to be on the same plan and passes, etc?:confused3
I'm (obviously) new at this and totally ignorant.:rolleyes1
Thanks for any advice you can give!

When you get the Dining Plan through DVC it is not tied to ticket media like Dining Plans at the resorts. Everyone on the reservation does have to get the same Dining Plan for each of the nights of the DVC reservation.

You'll get 14 QS meals and 14 snacks for the QS plan per person. You'll have to pay adult prices for anyone 10 y/o or over. I don't believe those passes are upgradable because they have no inherent value from a $$ standpoint. I would not plan 8 days in the parks for a 7 night trip. I'd plan the 5 parks days and then look at other options for the additional days like shopping, resort exploring, water parks, Disney Quest, Dinner Shows, Character meals outside the parks, etc. That way if you have a day when someone isn't feeling well or you have bad weather, you're not wasting a day.

I guess my question is more can I buy myself a 3 day hopper to supplement the five 1-days I have for myself, since I have to buy 8-day hoppers for each of my kids? Or do I have to buy myself an 8-day hopper since that's what I'm getting fort he kids? I know we all have to be on the same dining plan, but the tickets are my concern.

Since you're not buying a vacation package, you can purchase whatever kind of tickets you want. You can buy your tickets ahead of time online or you can purchase them at the parks. Keep in mind that, as someone else already suggested, you might not want to do 8D PH's for a 7 night trip. I would get yourself a 3D PH and get the kids 5D PHs to start. You can always add days on to the tickets later in the trip if necessary, and that way you won't feel obligated to go to a park every single day.

You can buy what you want and I see it does make sense to have the same number of days for everyone unless the kids are old enough to go alone. There is not reason everyone has to have an 8 day ticket and waste the 5 day ones. However, unless you're staying for more than the 7 nights, no way would I go with 8 day tickets.

I would consider saving the individual day tickets for a trip that you are only planning 5 or less park days. If you are planning 7 or 8 for this trip I would buy that length of ticket since the price is reduced for the extra days.
That said, as Dean suggested I wouldn't do 8 park days in a 7 night stay.

Bottom Line:

When you get one of the Dining Plans through DVC (which includes you because you exchanged), there is NO requirement to purchase tickets. You can get no tickets, different tickets for each member of the party or whatever you want. Totally up to you.

On the other hand, we always get 8 day hoppers for a 7 night stay. It is up to you
