Trade for ski vacation

We were planning to go to WDW over New Years this year but now we are thinking of a ski trip. Has anyone ever used their DVC to trade for this and if so where did you go and how was the resorts? I know it never seems to live up to what we get @ WDW resorts but my kids keep saying not Disney again ( I think they are really not mine ha,ha) Anyway any help would be great looking @ either out west or Vt. or N.H.

My daughter traded to Streamside at Vail a few years ago and thought it was a good value. She traded for a Spring week - March I think - and they got very lucky with both the weather and the new snow. The week before the roads had been closed getting there so they just lucked out all around. She also was lucky in that the day she called she was able to get the trade and did not have to wait and wonder if she would get it.

Ski weeks are tough to exchange for, especially a week 52 or any time kids are out of school. If I owned a 52/51 week I would use it or rent it(I have a week 1-15 out in the Vail/Beaver Creek area) before I deposited it.

I posted a review of my stay at David Walley's in the Tahoe area. I was able to get it last minute for New Year's week (12/29-1/5). Let me see if I can find that link for you.

Put in a request for the CO, Tahoe and Utah resorts you're comfortable with but start exploring other options as those are unlikelly to be available that week. Generally one should have been searching about 1-2 months already to have the best chance of success. Just list the resorts you know are OK now, once you have researched more, you can add or change later if you decide additional resorts are OK. Remember that matches are automatic and you have precious few cancellation options once you have an exchange.
