Tracy Arm yet?

Nope not yet and people are reporting it's not likely to happen this year. Do come back and keep us updated as we are on the 8/8 sailing :) I've done Tracy Arm (so beautiful) and I've accepted Endicott Arm and now actually getting excited about seeing something different to compare :)

Wow. Haven't see that Tracy Arm is a problem this year. Why can't the ships get in?

Too much ice.

To the best of my knowledge, no major cruise line ships have made it into Tracy Arm yet this season. I've been watching traffic online and I have seen some smaller boats and even small ships go into the arm in the last week or two, but the ones at have gone in are the ships with 30 cabins. Nothing remotely Wonder-sized.

We were the first week of June last year and we got in Tracey Arm, but it had been an exceptionally mild winter. The Dawes glacier is beautiful, I am sure, but we have a Sawyer in our extended family and it was particularly neat for him.

Currently on the wonder, and Tracy Arm was a no go on Wednesday. They said there was too much ice. Endicott was beautiful & cold & rainy!

I've pretty much accepted at this point that the chances of getting into Tracy Arm on our sailing (week of July 18th) are pretty slim. I'm disappointed, although I don't know why since I'm sure Endicott Arm is still beautiful.

I'm just surprised it's been an issue, since it doesn't seem like it typically is at this point of the season, and I thought it was a warm winter. So I didn't think too much ice would be a problem. Although maybe the reason the ice is a problem is because it had been warmer, and there has been more calving of the glacier causing greater amounts in the water. Who knows.

Currently on the wonder as well and no go with Tracy Arm.
Our state room host said that he thought Endicott arm was more beautiful and you were closer to the glacier than in Tracy Arm (I have never been to Tracy Arm so can't confirm, just sharing what we were told).
Either way we thought it was beautiful!

I wouldn't be disappointed in Endicot Arm at all. We did both Edicot Arm and Tracy Arm on the same itinerary last August (due to having to skip Skagway). They are right next to each other and very similar looking. Tracy Arm is a narrower and more winding, but we got way closer to Dawes Glacier at the end of Endicot Arm. Lot's of calving and tons of seals on the ice made for a most spectacular day!

Bummer leaving for our alaska cruise in like 48hrs, sounds like an excuse to take another cruise again.

Looks like it's Endicott for the season this year. It doesn't sound like the chances of Tracy Arm are too good. But we cruise next week, and I've accepted it. Everyone's reports are it's still beautiful, so I don't feel like we'll be missing anything.

On the Wonder now. We did Endicott and thought it was an amazing experience. The Wonder got very close to the glacier. The on board naturalist said there is too much ice at Tracy Arm; geologists think another ice field has merged with the the Sawyer glacier and that is why there is so much ice.

I can't remember who I talked to on the ship. I only remember talking to Trent. Anyway, it was explained to me that chunks of ice would clump together and as the tide would go out they would clog the channel making it impassable.

I've been through Tracy Arm Fjord years back and saw Sawyer Glacier; it was beautiful, no doubt. My family and I were on the Wonder for the July 4th sailing and we did Endicott Arm instead; Dawes glacier was just as beautiful as I remember Sawyer Glacier being. I was talking with a cast member later about it and mentioned we seemed closer to the glacier than I remembered being in Tracy Arm - he said you can get closer in Endicott Arm and he preferred it because of that. I asked why, if that's the case, does the ship usually go to Tracy Arm then; he said Tracy Arm is more "well known" and so everyone always wants to go there.

I had actually found this link before our trip and had already decided I would enjoy it regardless. http://nordicquest.com/wordpress/?p=1162

I really don't think you'll be disappointed whichever Fjord you end up going through.

We were on the second to last sailing in Aug 2015 *and* the first sailing in May 2016. First time, we went to Tracy Arm. Second time, we went to Endicott Arm.

We actually like Endicott Arm better b/c
of what some others have posted here that CM's told them: you get in MUCH closer to the glacier.

You will have a great experience, either way!

Just got back on Monday. Last week we went to Endicott. We went on the small boat excursion and it was totally worth it! Got very close to the glacier and it was really active...lots of noise and calving which made it very exciting!
