Tracphone and telemarketers

They are leaving messages on DS13s phone and using up his minutes. Any way you guys know of putting a stop to this?

The only way they could be using minutes on the tracfone is a)answering the call or b) retrieving the messages left on voice mail using the tracfone instead of a landline.

Try calling tracfone and requesting a new phone number.

I assume that Tracphone is selling the number so dont know if getting a new # would work.

Is there a way to disable the VoiceMail?

I've had a Tracfone for many years and never once had a telemarketer call so not sure it's a Tracfone issue.

Request a new number and tell your son to be very careful who he gives the number out to.

I've had two phones for years. I've also registered them with that DoNotCall.gov website just in case.

Telemarketers should not be calling cellphone. I think it is still illegal. When they call, if DS answers, make DS tell them it is a cellphone number & they are using up hIs minutes I should stop.

He should have caller ID, why is he answering numbers he doesn't know?

There is a do not call registry for cell phones. We've got the number posted at work. I will take a look for it and post it tomorrow night.

I never had a telemarketer call my trac phone. I had one for a year.

There isn't a special Do Not Call list for Cell phones, telemarketers are prohibited from calling all cell phones. You can find more information here http://www.ftc.gov/donotcall/ . They either don't care about the laws or don't have the phone listed as a cell phone. Changing the number might help, it may have previously been a land line or one someone used to sign up for different things.

Are you sure it's a telemarketer and not a market research (survey) company?

I never had a telemarker call our trackfones. Try to put the number on the govement do not call list. It should work in about a month. Who ever had the number before you must have signed up for somehthing that sold thier number
