Tracking tax refund

It's been 3 and a half weeks since electronic file, both my DS and myself and DH. DS got his in 10 days and ours is still showing still being processed.

We have always had them withinin 2 weeks so now I am getting a little nervous. It took 3 months to get the correct forms from Obamacare-but DS return used the same forms as well.

Is there anyway I can follow up with an actual person? Ours has pretty basic stuff-health, house, charities...on it. We used turbo tax again, same for many years. Or should we just wait a few more weeks?

Any thoughts on this is appreciated. Thanks.

You filed at the tax deadline - I would assume many did and they are backed up. Even though yours is "basic" it still has to go through many departments (health, house, charities like you said - did your son have all of the same categories as you or did it only include healthcare?) I wouldn't worry just yet. Maybe give it another week.

Ds only had healthcare on his and IRA. I never have filed this late before, usually Early Feb.

Give it a bit longer. The closer you get to April 15 to file, it takes a little longer to process. Give it a couple more weeks.

21 Days is the "average" federal refund time if you had the refund direct deposited. If you chose not to have the refund routed(directly deposited) into either a checking or savings account and had had a paper check mailed, it could take ALOT longer. The IRS will not speak with you until minimally 21 days from filing date has elapsed. Wouldn't hurt to call the IRS number on the website to check on "status" or to check on line "wheres my refund" on the IRS website. GOOD LUCK!

I have ck the "where's my refund" both online and by phone, both say "being processed" . It has been about 26 days, so I wonder if there is a number to call with an actual person that can tell me anything more.

You will have to call the IRS general number but be prepared to WAIT! 1 800 829 1040. Good luck!

If you have a smart phone, go to Google Playstore and download/install the app IRS2Go. This government provided app will give you status updates on your return
