DVC newbie here.

In a discussion thread from a couple years ago, someone said that, even though the membership terms provide that points transferred between members maintain their UY and home resort attributes, the MS computers cannot track this. Is this still the case? i.e., Are there members who have a small contract at, say, BCV and booked 11 months out using, in part, points from another home resort under another contract or transferred from another member?

MS services is making an effort to manually record and check where points are coming from. It isn't done automatically - so I'm sure it still happens on occation, but point morphing appears to be less of an issue now (or less of a perk - if you are asking the other direction). They've also limited transfers, which helps.

That is what we DVC DISers call morphing points. It's not allowed and MS is doing what they can to keep it from happening any more.

No, you can't do this. You only have home resort advantage for those points available at the home resort. You can't use points from other contracts/resorts until the 7 month window opens. You could, however, bank and borrow with a small contract every 2-3 years.
or transferred from another member?
This is the "morphing" the other posters are talking about. Transferred points are supposed to retain their original characteristics, but if they don't, they "morph" into the resort of the recipient. I think MS has a much better grip on that than they had a year ago, so I don't think it's a realistic possibility today. But, I've never tried it and could well be wrong.

While we've seen many post (both before and after the July 06 changes) where people were told point morphing would not happen, I don't recall seeing any specific examples where people actually did the transfer and the points were tracked correctly. I do know of a couple of times after the change where points did morph. Until I see evidence it's actually fixed, I'll assume it's not.
