Hi
Was wondering if any one used the TRAC phone cell (pre-paid cell minutes w / cards)while at WDW. We don't use our cells much and I thought it would be good to have on hand at WDW though. It's hard to tell from their map if coverage is good at WDw or not. Was on hold LONG time trying to get answer...thought someone on the DIS might know
Thanks

yes mine has a michigan phone number it worked most places also worked at the resort

I was thinking about getting a couple of these because my kids are teenagers now and want to go out on their own, but I wasn't sure how they worked. I know you buy them and they have a certain amount of prepaid minutes, then you recharge them.

Other than that, do they work just like any other phone?

Thanks :)

Other than adding minutes to them, they work just like other phones. We love ours. I have the motorola and I can leave it on for 3 or 4 days before having to recharge it. The 1 HUGE draw back is that when you are roaming each call costs double minutes, even if it is for only 1 second over a minute, it costs 4 minutes. It gets really expensive if you talk much while roaming.
We have only roamed when we went to WDW. Just be sure to have plenty of minutes before you go! We left with 100 minutes and ran out after 1 1/2 weeks, with 1/2 week of vacation left to go. We should have used text messaging more, it only uses 1/2 the minutes.

Virgin Mobile is pre-paid, and they don't charge long-distance. You can also get top-up cards at Virgin Megastore at Downtown Disney (phones and cards are available at Best Buy and other stores all over the country). They use the sprint network infrastructure, and there is good coverage all over the country (very good in and around WDW too).

Hi Safari Steve.

Do you know whether or not you can actually buy the phone in DTD?

My town is like 3000 people- no Best Buys here- LOL.

Blessings :)
