To make it short, the boys and girls of the swim team do a tp session on each others houses during the year. It's in fun, the parents all sign permission slips for the kids to do the tping and to allow the tping of their house.

So....yesterday the boys were loading up on supplies at Walmart and someone called 911 to report them buying the tp and gave the license plate of the car the kids were driving. The police pulled the kids over and then contacted the drivers mother who informed the police of what was going on, the police said fine and the kids were sent on their way.

However, the mom then had second thoughts and canceled the tp session for the night.

Now...on the one hand, yeah, it's nice the police are on top of things, but really? Possible TPing is a 911 worthy call? I thought it a little over the top and that someone at Walmart needs a hobby, maybe they could start taking photos of the native shoppers or something...

What say ya'll?

In this case....No. I think 911 was overkill.

I personally feel like 911 is for emergencies.

I mean, if you are really upset that your house is being T.P.'ed AT THE TIME....Then call so that the kids can be caught.

But to SUSPECT they are going to do it because they are buying a lot of paper is silly. It's not like they bought 18 packs of Sudifed or anything.

It sounds like a busybody decided to get involved. I think that police have better things to do than chase kids who have bought a lot of tp.

oh please. My DD's Basketball team tps the coach's house at the start of every season. If they didn't , I think he'd feel they didn't love him anymore. Although, the rule is the older team does the tp-ing then the younger teams come in the next morning to clean up!

I think people need to report more important potential crimes to 911.

THey might have just called the police station and not 911.

Either way its busy body-ish. The person that called had no idea what was going on. The police handled it well though.

911 is for serious emergency situations..car accidents, fires, imminent harm to another person or yourself. 911 is not for possible tping.

Does your city/county have a non emergency line? Even calling the police number directly would be fine (if they felt the need..at least it is not taking up emergency resources and can be managed by the police in regards to priority) but not 911.

To call 911 for that reason is dumb.
As for calling the police I agree with you this person need to get a hobby.
I work with someone who called 911 because her trash cans went missing.
She was informed form them the reasons to call 911 and that is not one of them.

Wow...it takes 911 forever to get to where I am in my city for ACTUAL emergencies. Someone needs to find a hobby. TPing is not that big a deal and they had permission by the homeowners to do it. That is insane.

I can understand calling the non emergency number. If you didn't know what is going you would think these kids are up to good.

Based on some of the threads on here, it was probably a Diser who called. It takes a village you know! ;)

A few years ago when my youngest DD was a senior in HS, several members of the football team TPed our house. A Policeman woke us up at 4:ooam. He had us come outside to look at the yard. Then he wanted names of possible suspects. We thought that was over the top. I do have to admit that the boys did an awesome job. Couldn't believe how high they got it into the trees. Lots of trees. :rotfl: I have no clue as to how much was used. But it was like walking into a thick spider web right from the porch.

Moral of the story is ....
Even TPing is now being handled as a more serious vandalism. If we had given names these boys would have been treated as someone that had done something much more serious. And actually I guess it is vandalism. Or at least now it is.

We thought it was funny......but some.....maybe not so much.

It has to do with the dollar amt of damage.

I can not stand TPing. It is wasteful and stupid. I do not care how old the kids are, why parents would sign permission slips for them to do that is totally beyond my reasoning.

As much as I have issues with TPing, that Wal-Mart shopper needs to find a life. I do not think 911 was indicated.

So you would be okay with teens TP your yard? I can send some kids your way if that the case

You can send them to my house. I would rather have kids out TPing a house instead of doing other things

really wow :scared1::scared1: I would rather have kids behave themselves and not being getting into trouble.

I'm shocked I dunno why after all this is the dis, that so many people are okay with kids being bad and not wanting them to be in trouble for there actions

Did you read the OP post? They had all signed permission slips. If the parents of the kids are ok with it then what is the big deal? It is not like they headed out to pick random houses. So I do not see this as kids miss behaving.
