August 20/22 overall resort level changes from 4 to 5. Not as bad as June. Can't imagine what 10/10 is like as I am already worried about the 5/10.

LOL, TP just figured this out? This has been common knowledge for months. And all days in June will not be equally 10.

Thanks OP for the heads up. :)

Thanks for the heads up. But this is why TP is hard to use. How helpful is it to say everyday is 10 out of 10? First, it is hard to believe that everyday will be virtually the same. Weekends will be the same as weekdays? AP blockout days will be the same as non-blockout days? It is hard to believe. :confused3

I don't know if they need a better scale, such as a level of 100 so they can give better distinction, or if something else would work. But there will be variations during these times, the resort is never exactly the same everyday across the summer.

Does anyone know how hotel bookings factor into crowd predictions? For my dates, June 25-28 there seem to be plenty of hotel rooms still available in Anaheim. I know they expect a lot of locals. Does Anaheim have so many hotel rooms that it's rare to not find a room?
Just curious. My plan is to watch crowds next week and wait times and make a plan based on some of that info.

A 5/10 is great! I was there last year when it was 8/10 and I didn't think that the crowds were too bad at all. So a 5/10 should be even better!

I'm really nervous about going next week, I absolutely love DL & DCA but I really hate to battle the crowds. Since DL won't be nearly as bad as DCA maybe we will just spend both days there even though we have a park hopper ticket. I really wanted to go see WOC and we have reservations at Carthay Circle on the 25th but, I don't know if I am going to keep my reservation.

I went to the Magic Kingdom on a Saturday several years ago and it was miserable!!! The crowds were incredible! I'm going into next week thinking it's going to be that bad if not worse.

I planned this trip before I knew about Cars Land opening because I was able to get a really good deal and my husband could the time off next week. My family and I are going to have to make the best of it. :goodvibes

That is a very good question. I noticed that too. I think a lot of locals plan on going which affects the crowd levels more that those of us coming in from out-of-town. I made reservations a couple of weeks ago for lunch at the Blue Bayou and Carthay Circle and they had plenty of times open for the days I plan on going. I guess all of those people are planning on eating wherever they can find? They didn't make reservations!

We will be going to Carthay Circle on the 16th.....we may go to the park on the 15th as well. But we have Annual Passes and live about 15 minutes away, so if it's too busy, we can just leave.

But we find that if you are prepared for the crowds, you can have a lot of fun, just don't plan on riding as many rides, instead we try to enjoy more of the shows on these days and combine that with FPs for a few rides. This works fairly well.

Yeah, we booked our DVC at the 11 month mark, not knowing exactly when Carsland would open. We're going to just make the best of it too. We get early morning at each Park, so we'll go early, take a mid-day break (& get caught up on sleep!) then go back in the evening. Since we're staying right there, it'll be easy to go back & forth.

We'll be there in two weeks. So excited, but also a bit nervous about the crowds.:headache: We knew it would be crowded, but decided to go anyway. Our grandson talks about Mater, so hoping we can at least get him on Mater's Jamboree. There are so many other things to do and see in both parks, even without standing in line for the major rides, that I'm sure we will all have a great time! I'm going to remain optimistic!:thumbsup2

Early entries, good use of FPs, knowing crowd tendencies as to what rides are busy when, hitting certain rides during parades and shows, are all ways to minimize the crowds.

They don't say that everyday is 10 of 10. If I recall correctly, the first number is the resort crowd level. I believe this means they expect the onsite hotels to be close to capacity. The other numbers tell the crowd levels that they expect DL and DCA to be respectively - those numbers vary (sometimes quite a bit) from day-to-day.

For example, on Tue, June 19, 2012

10 out of 10 (this should be the resort crowd level)

DL 6.3

DCA 9.7

They are expecting DL to be less crowded than DCA. DCA is staying up in the 9.5-10 range for the rest of June, which makes sense. DL varies from 6.3 to 10 during June.

We're going June 28-29 and I'm not at all worried.

We live 9 hours away and two years ago we went on Christmas week when lots of people were saying it was too crowded and miserable and we had a BLAST.

I think it's all relative, and maybe people who have been able to visit during the off season have a different perspective.

Hmmm...so how does 6.3 and 9.7 average out to an overall 10? :teacher:

I'm not great with spatial equations and quantum mechanics, but I am pretty good with averages.
