Toystoryduo’s Journal: Baby Steps are the Key... Celebrate Each Victory!

Hi Tracy,

COngratulations to you DD. That is awesome. You must be a very proud mama.

Don't worry about not making goals for October. Taking a break from the constant pressure of those goals may be just what you need.

Good luck with the car,
Beth

Tracy - that is great news about your dd.. she must have been beaming! :)
And i agree with Beth, sometimes just the fact that you make goals can be more pressure when there is alot on your plate already..
Have a great day!

Hi, Tracy. Just checking in to say hi. Hope today is a relaxed, less stressful day. Enjoy your time with your DD and DH and just recharge.

Have a good evening!

Hey Tracy, hope yesterday was a bit less stressful and today was too! I agree with Beth, taking a break from the pressure of goals might be a very good idea. I know for me it just gets overwhelming sometimes.

Hope dh's job went well yesterday!:)

Hey there! Just checking in to see how things are going and how you're feeling! Hope all is well.

Stacie

Good morning friends,

Yesterday, I had to go back to the doctor. I have been having some pain in my side and I figured it was time to get it checked out. (I didn't mention the pain because I figured if I didn't "talk" about it, it would go away. :rolleyes1 ) The doctor said that I have a UTI infection and put me back on antibiotics. He also shed some more light on what the CT scans showed in the hospital:

1. I have a kidney stone on my left side. It is not causing me any pain so it may go away on it's own.

2. Because I am overweight, I have extra layers of fat surrounding my organs. Apparently, my fat is beginning to overtake my liver and may cause it to stop functioning. Yikes! :eek:

The bottom line is this....I have been hemming and hawing about my excess weight for too long. Now, my health is affected in a big way. If I don't do anything, the situation with my liver will get worse. Now is the time to get serious and focus on my health. I've spent some time over the last 24 hours doing some research into weight loss and have found some interesting information.

So, the plan to not have a plan for October is gone. I still don't feel 100% so I will have to ease back into exercise. The girls and I will take a walk before homeschool in the mornings where the weather cooperates. Even if it's only a 10 minute walk. As I start getting closer to feeling 100%, I will add back weight lifting and more cardio.

As for food, I have been reading a lot about nutrition and the types of food we put into our bodies. Some of it is downright scary! :eek: I need to start making better food choices. It's not just a matter of losing weight for appearance, but it's a matter of my health. No one forces me to eat junk.

I have quite a ways to go....I'm looking at a target weight of 150 pounds. That means I have 68 pounds to lose. That's a big number. It's essential that I lose this weight though. My health is at stake.

This weekend, my DH and I will talk about this, and brainstorm ways that we can both lose weight. We need to do this for our health and to be good role models for our children.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I'll be back on Monday!:grouphug:

Well, look at it this way -- you made a plan, and you know where you want to be -- that is half the battle! And think of this - A 10 min. walk is better than no walk - right? Each step you take is a step towards health. :)

Sometimes it takes something scary - as our health - to show us what we can do! It sounds like you know what you want to happen, and i am sure with the help of your family, and these WISH girls, you can do it!!!

Have a great weekend!

:hug: Tracy....I'm so proud of you. I really feel like you are assessing your situation rationally and intelligently. Sure, it must be scary to face a health scare such as that...but hopefully it is just the motivation you need to become healthier and stronger. I think starting with the 10 minute walk each day is a great way to ease back in. Just try to add more time gradually and carefully...while also incorporating (as you said) some strength work and additional cardio. You CAN do this Tracy! I know you can :). I'm just really proud of how you are approaching this lifestyle change :thumbsup2

Hi Tracy,

First :hug:. It is always hard to hear that kind of news. What you are describing is called fatty liver syndrome. It is incredibly important for you to lose weight slowly. A goal of .5-2 pounds a week. Your live is the organ that processes fat. If you lose it at a rapid rate, it can further stress your liver leading to further inflammation and deposits on your liver. I know you want the weight off, but please do it safely. If you have any questions about the syndrome, PM me. Good luck making your plans.
\:hug:
Beth

Hey Tracy---sorry to hear about the situation with your liver. Please take care of yourself. I truly believe that sometimes it takes situations like this to realize what we need to do. You can do this, and as somebody else said, go at it slow! You are great at setting goals each month, and if you continue to do that you can do this!!! Always remember that we are all hear for support and encouragement!!!

Hope you had a GREAT weekend!!

Thank you all so much for stopping by with your words of encouragement and support. I appreciate you all!:grouphug:

I want to apologize in advance because I won't be able to get to journals tonight....Dinner is late and tonight is game night with the kids.

My DH and I spent some time talking about finances this weekend. A pleasant topic I'm sure if you have an over-abundance of money. :rolleyes1 We have some ideas about what we want to do as far as savings and paying down debt goes. We also brainstormed some ideas about getting more work as well. It was a good meeting, but a tough one.:goodvibes

I didn't spend much time thinking about my health and how I am going to lose the weight. I will over the next few days though.

I will try and check back in tomorrow...Have a good evening!:grouphug:

Tracy, I am sorry you have had this scare but it might be just what you need. I really think that you are on the right track, you have been talking about your overall health for sometime now. You can do this and you will. I also agree with Beth, losing slowly is really important. You are on the right track Wish Sis and I know you are going to do it!

Glad you went to the doctor, that isn't always easy to do.

And talking about money would definitely be fun if you had lots of it!

Here's to a good week!

Ah, the good ol' finance meetings... ugh, gotta love 'em! NOT!! LOL

Glad to see you are going to come up with a plan - there is just so much inspiration here!!! :)

Have a good day!

Thanks ladies.:grouphug:

Yesterday we managed to clean AND organize our garage! Woohoo!:woohoo: Now, my DH better keep it clean after all that hard work. ;) We also sent 2 carloads of stuff to Goodwill as well.

Today, we may be going with my DH as he works on two small projects. Basically, he works for about 1 hour and drives for about 3. That would give us some time to discuss Disney, Christmas, DD6's birthday, and our health goals for the weeks to come. Plus, it gives me a break from cleaning for 1 day. :woohoo:

Last night, I got my birthday gift from my parents....A $50 gift card to our local grocery store.:yay: I'm very excited (and thankful) about that because money will be super tight for the next two weeks. Thanks mom and dad!:grouphug:

Hope everyone has a great day!:grouphug:

Hey Tracy,

Have fun hanging out with DH and the girls today. I will try to find some more info for you tonight.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Tracy
that must have been scary hearing the health stuff from the Dr.
But at least you are making good choices & plans & researching :)
Take care

Thanks everyone!:grouphug:

Go Cleveland Indians!:cheer2:

Today's Plan:

* Homeschooling

* Laundry

* Disney Planning

* Christmas Gift Brainstorming

One of the reasons I need to do some Christmas gift brainstorming is because the past 2 years, we have done our XMas shopping after we get back from WDW. When we're in WDW, we find oursleves in more of a "spending mode" that continues right into our Christmas shopping when we get back. Last year, we spent way more on Christmas than we wanted to. So, I figure if we can get the Christmas shopping done before Christmas, we'll be better off when we get back from WDW. That's the theory anyhow. ;):rolleyes1

I did manage a 45 minute weight workout this morning.:banana: If the weather holds, I hope to get a walk in with the girls this afternoon. Maybe we'll go to the park.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!:grouphug:

Hey there Tracy! I'm just catchin up! So sorry to hear about your health scare! Unfortunatley, sometimes it takes something like that to get us moving and to be serious about it! You've done a fantastic job looking at your sitation and figuring out what to do to get yourself healthier! Even those short walks before homeschooling can make a difference. Sometimes I tell myself...Moving some is better than not moving at all.

Maybe I missed out or just didn't retain...You're going to WDW too??? Wow. So many folks are going soon!!! We're not going til January. I have gotten so addicted!

Hope you have a great day!!! Keep up the good work! Good job on the weights this morning! :thumbsup2 It's supposed to be pretty here in NC, maybe it will be pretty for you this afternoon too!

Stacie
