We only have a short 1.5 hour flight to get to MCO. It falls right during DD's nap time. Given the new location and new sounds, chances are slim to none that she will actually sleep on the flight.

What are some good plane activities for a 2 year old? I'm thinking of getting a small new toy, so it's something she hasn't seen before, but I'm not sure what will work.

Pipe cleaners are endlessly fascinating to small children. A DVD is a good option if she will wear headphones.

What ever you choose, please make sure that it's non-messy and quiet.

Keep in mind, you can't turn on a DVD until you reach 10K feet, and you'll have to turn it off going back down at the same height. Your 90 minute flight will probably only be about 70 minutes once you take off.

Pipe cleaners are good, maybe a book? Keep in mind if she wants to draw/color, you can't bring down the tray until 10K also.

This is specifically why we have chosen to leave the Tag reader at home. :)

I'll grab a pack of pipe cleaners and maybe a travel magna doodle. No tray needed. :)

Great suggestions for toys!!

Also, remember when all fails, it's time to bust out the snacks!!! LOL!!!!!

At that age they don't "get it" why the DVD player has to go off when it's time for landing! AND their movie isn't over!

SNACKS! Stickers are great for that age. Books. As a baby mine always like to play with the drink card. Used to joke that she wanted "Dewers, up!" ;)

Last time we flew DD was 2 1/2 and it was a nap time. She had ALWAYS slept on every flight she had taken. I was determined she would get a nap. Learned my lesson the hard way. Should have just tried to keep her happy with snacks and toys. Worst flight we ever had! Made me miss the days when she and daddy would cuddle up and sleep. Had a couple of flights were people stood up behind us at the end of the flight and said they hadn't realized a baby was in front of them!
