Could anyone tell me if you have to ride the tram after getting off the Toy Story Shuttle? I almost fell getting out of the tram last time and don't want to take it at all. I have balance problems and need a hand rail to step off things. The hotel I'm looking at is right by the Toy Story Parking lot and I would like to take it if I can. TIA. :smickey:

no, you only take the shuttle bus. It drops you right by the harbor side security tents into the esplanade.

Just a note… you go thru security prior to boarding the Toy Story busses, and then when they drop you off at the parks, it may look like you’ll be sent to the security stations there near the esplanade… but don’t panic, you’ll actually bypass those security lines, since you already did the security checks before boarding the bus.

And there’s no trams like the pp said. Basically, the toy story busses take the place of the “trams” from that parking lot.

Not sure which hotel you are looking at, but the busses load at the very back of the lot, so from most hotels it is at least 1/4 mile, and often 1/2 mile or more walk to the actual loading area. For example, from the Doubletree lobby, it is just over 1/2 mile.

The mileages advertised by the hotels as “x # of miles from DL” are measured to the closest edge of each respective property. So a hotel that says 0.3 miles to DL, is really 0.3 miles from the edge of their property closest to the park measured to the edge of DL property closest to that hotel. The true distance from the hotel lobby to the esplanade (or trams) is almost always at least 2-3x the distance advertised. Same holds true for the TS lot, for the most part, if they state “x distance to the TS lot”.

One last thing, if you feel it would be safer, you can request that they allow you to walk up the access ramp to load onto the bus. Just tell them you have a problem with balance on stairs. You can also request to load first so you can have a seat, if it would be unsafe for you to have to stand for the ride. You might have to wait to load onto the next bus, but they come one after another continuously, so it would be rarely be more than a minute or two before the next bus begins loading. Worth it to stay safe, I’m sure.

Just in case you're not planning on arriving in the morning though, the security at Toy Story closes up at 12pm noon (approx). If you arrive after security closes, you'll just be dropped off at the same esplanade, but go through security at the Harbor entrance.
