Toy Story Parking Lot Question

Is the Toy Story parking lot open whenever the parks are open or is it an overflow lot that only opens sometimes? I've also read that it doesn't always open first thing in the morning which is very important to those of us who must be present for the parks opening. I've seen conflicting answers and would love to know the "real story." If it's only open sometimes, what are the odds during the first week in June or the third week in October? Thanks all!

As near as I can tell, the answer is "it depends" on traffic, what's happening with construction at DCA, how busy they are at Mickey and Friends. Frankly, it seems to be open most of the time.

I was there this past week. I used the Toy story lot on Tuesday the 30th, and wednesday the 1st. We didn't get there right at opening, around 10:00 a.m. each day. the Toy Story Lot didn't have too many cars in it, and no lines to wait in to park at all. It's possible that the lot opened before the parks opened. If you're real worried about it, I'd use Mickey and Friends the first day if you're doing a multi-day trip.

Disney alway opens two lots, M&F and the TS lot. These are the regular parking areas. It's been this way since the start of summer.

TS is not a special lot, and is always open.

Thanks for all the quick responses! Is it possible to walk into the Toy Story parking lot without parking a vehicle or paying for parking and ride the shuttle into the park?

I have heard people say yes, but never that they have done it. See the difference? I'm still waiting for a detailed report of how it all worked out.

The major dilemma I see is that it's a vehicle area and not a pedestrian area. I think you are taking a risk if you try.

The TS (snicker...TS) parking lot has always been open every time I've gone.

As for walking into the TS parking lot, don't do it. Seriously. Don't do it. You'll have to dodge cars as there is no sidewalk leading into the parking lot. I imagine the employees are not happy when they see people walking up the driveway. If you do decide to try this, go up the left side where you can see the cars coming.

But I don't know where you'd be able to park for free within walking distance of the TS lot. You're not going to be able to get away with parking for free at a nearby business or hotel unless you're a guest. And if you're a hotel guest, use their shuttle or ART if it's too far to walk.

Thanks for all the good advice. Someone on another thread suggested it but I didn't think it sounded feasible. I can pay to actually park there if I need to and don't want to take the pedestrian risk.

There actually is a short sidewalk on the left side that terminates at a pedestrian opening into the Woody section of the lot. The opening is only about 50 ft. up the main driveway from Harbor Blvd. From there, you can walk safely (still be alert alert at all times) to the Bus/Shuttle loading zones.

As other posters have written, it's probably easier to take your hotel shuttle or ART. But it is technically possible and the sidewalk and opening was designed (by the look of it) to allow pedestrians to go back-and-forth from the TS Lot to the Anaheim Convention Center and hotels. The TS Lot has been used in the past as Convention Center overflow parking and could be used as such when larger conventions are in town, e.g. the NAMM show in January.

Just confirming that there is indeed a sidewalk going into the TS parking lot from Harbor. One day I parked at TS and, fully aware that I'd be eating lots of junk that day, decided to walk instead of take the bus. I just used the sidewalk to walk out to Harbor, then walked to the parks.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to inform us all. It makes a huge difference when someone says they've actually done it! I've now changed my mind and will have to give it a try.
