Toy Story Parking is Expanding

It looks like guest parking is going to take over CM parking in Toy Story lot. It will add about 2000 more parking spaces. I am wondering where the CMs are going to park? I do not think the Pumba lot is big enough and having them park at the stadium seems like a hassle for our amazing CMs.

Also this will help (I hope). Disney is adding security/bag check at Toy Story Parking Lot before you board the buses.
I did not see any dates for when this will be completed, but I am guessing sooner than later with the expansion of Mickey and Friends finish date estimated for the end of July. The expansion of M&F is going to be called Pixar Pals Parking.

Will the buses drop off some place else then or will those people go through security twice? Currently there is no way to differentiate who has taken the Toy Story bus in and those walking in once you get to the Harbor side security check point.

If we stay offsite, we stay by the Toy Story lot so I’m curious how this will work.

Just found this from ThemeParkInsider

With security screening available at Toy Story, visitors who ride that shuttle will be released into what will be designated part of the secure area at the resort, leaving only those walking in from area hotels to use the new security lanes on the east side of the esplanade. However, Disney officials say that at certain low-demand periods, it might close the Toy Story lot security and just send everyone through the east side security lanes, as they do now.
They also mentioned restrooms being added and the entrance on Katella being used on some days.

currently with the drop off area along the main walkway and return loading on the opposite side it would be difficult to keep inbound guests and un-screened guests apart.

the only way I can imagine it to work would be to have screened guests unload at the southeast corner of the plaza (DCA side towards Harbor). then they would need a barrier all the way back to the screening area to keep it separate from guests going to the return bus loading areas.

on a side note, the Toy Story bus plaza is that long because it was built for tram use. I've never noticed more than 2 or 3 loading/unloading zones being used at one time. I've always wondered why they haven't shortened the bus plaza to open up more space in front of the screening stations.

Probably because up to just recently the plan was to have the primary screening relocated to inside the Eastern Gateway project and rework the entire Harbor side entrance until that got killed by the City.

Will be pretty easy to have a Toy Story shuttle drop off area either on the far north or south side of the tram area that drops pre-screen guests of into a pathway that enters the secure bubble separate from pedestrian walk ups...then picks up TS departing guests from another area.

They are expanding the pumba lot into what was suppose to the eastern structure as a surface lot for cast member parking.

I am excited for our amazing CMs they will be able to park close to work. But I feel sorry for Pumbba, his name is being removed from his lot and changed to Manchester Cast Member Lot. Pumbba does not get enough love at DLR.

Yay for bathrooms at Toy Story lot! Maybe we will actually park there now. I have a tiny bladder and have to use the bathroom as soon as we arrive at DLR every single time.

Ah, we love parking in Pumba when it's open. Oh well, it will be cool to have Toy Story with it's own bag check. We hate Mickey & Friends.

I understand the Eastern Gateway issue. post cancellation, plans had to be reworked to keep using the eastern plaza. there needs to be space in front of the security screening stations. it gets very congested on the left (DCA side) because of the Toy Story bus area. losing two bus loading zones in length shouldn't effect operations, it currently is about 10 bus lengths long.

I'm not sure that I am following your description, are you suggesting that buses drop off screened guests at the west end (closest to the screening stations) and not use the current return loading zones? the only location that the return loading zones could be moved would be the northeast area off the main walkway to Harbor. when there is a surge after the end of a show, parade or fireworks I don't think that there is enough space on the main walkway.

By pre screening guests at Toy Story that will alleviate a lot of that backup congestion and need for more space. I do not know what the exact choreography will be but it would be pretty easy to make a drop location into a secure area separate from pedestrians then circle around to pick up outbound guests in another location so there is not contamination in the secure area.

They need to also add EV charging to the Toy Story lot along with some restrooms.

To the toy story lot or the parking structure? I hate parking at the structure, so hoping for the Toy Story lot.
toy story lot. It’s part of the permit filing for the redone gate with toll booths on katella. 92 regular charging spots and 8 handicap. My guess though is that there will also be charging spots installed at the new structure but I haven’t seen any specific permits for it so it could be bundled into the other electrical work being done.

That is absolutely wonderful news.

There are charging ports at the current M&F so I dont see why there wouldn't be some at the new structure.

Yeah, I will still try my hardest to never park at the structure, the trams take way too long.

They should just build another parking deck on the employee lot at the corner of Ball and Harbor.
