Is there any way to get fast passes to this ride. We leave in about 40 days and when we were there last time it was an hour and a half wait. It is a cool ride but that is a long time for a 6 year old to wait.

Any ideas of when is best to ride? Any ideas to be able to ride this without the big wait?

get there when it opens, and follow the crowd heading for it - get a fast pass before going on, and then get in line to ride - this way you can get two rides in as early as possible.

We get in line by 9:30. We stay on-site so we get in the GCH line. Once we get into the park, we line up by a rope point. I will then go and get Soarin' FP's. The CM will walk the line over to TSMM. We are one of the first groups on the ride. We will then ride Screamin'. My kids will then ride again. We hang around that area until we can get a FP for Screamin' because we also like to ride it at night. So, by about 10:45, we have ridden TSMM, Screamin' and have 2 FP's for later.

TSMM at DCA does not have FPs. Never has. At DHS in Florida they do.

Get there when the park opens and make sure it's the first attraction you go on! Waiting in this line when it's crowded and hot is not pleasant!!!

We do not use the "ride it first" approach with TSMM. IMO the major drawback with this approach is that it does not save that much time.

On most days the line for TSMM surges in the morning up to 60+ minutes and by late afternoon has dropped to 30 minutes. That is when we ride it.

Many people get in line at the rope for TSMM at 9:30AM even through the ride does not open until 10AM. So you have to wait 30 minutes already to be first. If you can get off and ride it again with a short line then that makes it more worthwhile. I have heard the second ride can be a 15 minute line.

Be aware though that 9:30 in the morning can be prime time for doing other things at DCA or DL with a short line.

Some people have had success by not lining up for TSMM at 9:30 but waiting until closer to 10AM. That way they are not first in line but still have a shorter (15 minute?) line.

Is the TSM line really that long? Ugh.

We were there in January 2009 and I don't recall waiting more than 30 minutes or so for it. One day it was only about 10 so we got in line and rode it twice in a row.

Is the line really long now?? We'll be there in late September and I was looking forward to a moderate line since the one at Hollywood Studios this past January was over 90 minutes every time we walked by.

There have been various line waits listed in this thread so I do not know what you mean by "that long".

On the days we have been there lat May and August the line has been 60+ minutes in the morning and 30 by late afternoon.

We generally ride TSMM in the afternoon/early evening and have never waited more than 40 minutes (in the last 2 years).

ETA: If you trust the iphone app, "DL Wait Times" it is currently a 25 minute wait. (11:20am on a non-summer, non-Spring Break Wednesday)

Mid-week in the off-season, I've never experienced or seen a wait longer than 30 minutes for TSMM. I can't speak to peak season or weekends though.

Okay, cool. That makes me happy. It's a good ride but I have no desire to wait more than 30 minutes or so for it.

Last September (the last week of the month) on a Tuesday afternoon we waited about 60 minutes for TSMM at DCA....posted wait time was 40 minutes, but we waited longer. Each time I walked by it the rest of that day & the day after the line seemed just as long.

We just returned from Disneyland - waited in line on Friday for about 50 minutes...then the CM were clearing the queue because a ride vehicle began to overheat and almost caught fire. Everyone was asked to leave the queue and we were offered FAST PASSES - but NOT for TSMM...for everything else in DCA or Disneyland.

This was not a good experience because it was our last day and we had to be somewhere afterwards...so I would definitely GO early in the day because you just never know!!!

Also - the EXACT same thing happened to us in THE WORLD with this ride. Last day, tried waiting for 90 minutes in the Toy Story Ride and it broke down. 2 years later and after many tries of riding this attraction - the closest I have come is being asked "how many in your party"....so sad.

No FPs, YIKES!!!!! I just assumed there would be as in WDW. I'm so glad I found this out in advance. Do you think this will change with the upcoming release of Toy Story 3?

It was just opened less than 2 years ago IIRC, and there have never been Fastpasses. I've always wondered why, since it was a pretty big deal when it was opened.

Nope. They need infrastructure to support FPs. it is possible, of course. But highly unlikely.

Just came back from a 5 day trip. We got into the park a little after 10am on Saturday morning (DCA opened at 9.) The posted wait time was about 15 mins (was more like 20+ mins). The only other time I had a shorter wait was going first thing at opening on Wed morning. We tried Thursday afternoon and the wait was about 40 mins at that time.

Went there for the past 2 days, Fri-Sat, both were 20 minute waits at most. And I went at around 2PM lol.
