I saw a video of the TSM ride:happytv: and inside there are a LOT of stairs going thru the line. I would imagine there would be a handicap access for W/C's & ECV's. By the time we go to WDW both my Mom & Dad will have had total knee replacements. We will be using 2 ECV's. Anyone have any info?:confused3
Thanks!:woohoo:

You go through the main queue until there's a cut off for disabled access. This detour has a ramp and is perfectly accessable. In fact, this is one of the better rides for access for two reasons. You get to enjoy the main queue area which is a trip down memory lane. AND the ride cars are detachable and come out on to a little siding, where the person can get in safely without feeling pressured to hurry up because the next vehicle is coming. When you're safely in the car and the door is shut, the vehicle slides smoothly into the next opening in traffic. LOVE IT!

Also get a Fastpass or you have to weave through the standby line which is a pain in the neck for an ECV at times. There is a link in FAQs for the line video and after you go past Mr. Potatohead there is stairs and on the other side is the ramp.

Last fall, our dad (senior with bad knees) just rolled back and forth through the queue line (very wide with big corners) without any problem. Get to a certain point (right before the stairs) and the castmember redirects you up a ramp to the special loading area explained above. I think we actually "moved ahead" of the line this way too. :thumbsup2

It actually look us longer because of the way the cars were, and how many waiting before us, but was well worth the wait. It is very accessible, don't worry at all!

The information that was mentioned is in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is a link to a past thread which includes a lot of pictures and explanations of the boarding procedure. There is also a link to a youtube video that shows the regular boarding process and you can see the pull off point that avoids the stairs.

Yeah, you're likely to wait longer in the accessible boarding area than if you were able to go to the regular area, but if you have to, you have to! :) I was with a group of ppl and we all went through the Fastpass line, but I only took three others with me (incl. one who needed to avoid stairs) into the accessible boarding area and let the others go to the regular boarding area. We saw our friends in the regular area get on the ride at least several minutes (I didn't time it, I'm sure it was longer) before we got on, since I need the wheelchair side of the accessible vehicle for my service dog (it is the only one SDs can ride in, otherwise I'd take the non-wheelchair side of the accessible vehicle, though it does help me to use the accessible gun button with my wrist 'cause pulling the string or pushing the button with my hand/fingers can cause pain).

But at least that area is not crowded and you get a unique view of the loading areas, stairway (it has windows), theme decorations, and ride vehicles coming back after the game. Plus, it is neat to see how the track rotates to allow the accessible vehicle into the accessible loading area.
