While waiting a few more days to see if DLR comes out with any summer room only specials I'm trying to make alternate arrangements (as we can't afford to pay rack rate at any of the DLR hotels). While I'd prefer to stay at a hotel in walking distance DH is a bit of a hotel snob and I haven't been able to convince him to stay at any of the DLR walkable places available. So....we are back to looking at either Doubletree Suites and/or Hyatt Regency. From looking at a map the Doubletree looks closer (but would require transportation). Now for my question....

The Doubletree Suites don't look too far from the Toy Story parking lot (well, at least on the map I found). Is it frowned upon to catch the Disney shuttle to the parks even if we are not parking in the lot? I have read on the boards of others saying they have done it so I'm thinking it must be okay.

Does anyone know how far, in reality, the Doubletree Suites are from the shuttle stop in the Toy Story parking lot?

If he is a hotel snob then he should be looking at one of the resort hotels. Nice places to stay, easy walks and you do not have to pay rack if you catch the specials.
As you have stated others have reported they ride the shuttle without parking in the lots.

Jack, I 100% agree with you. I shouldn't be so hard on him as we had a few really bad experiences at hotels and now he is very particular about where he is willing to stay. If we can catch a special for our dates I'm going to push for one of the resorts. I guess I'm just trying to formulate a backup plan in case there are no deals this summer.

The Doubeltree to the Toy Story lot isn't too bad of a walk, probably about the same distance Katella to the gates. Though like Jack said if you just want a nice hotel why not stay onsite Unless you get some sort of a deal from the doubletree.

Hi Skiingfast! The big plus to the Doubletree Suites is the space. DH is in school and will most likely have to bring homework with us on the trip. The suite will give him a place to study after the kids have gone to sleep. Other than that, it is the only advantage. Pricewise the difference is nominal (compared to PP at DLR). I'd much rather stay on site and be right by everything. Crossing fingers for summer deals!
