Why are the toys so big? I don't understand the idea of the theme. What is the guest supposed to be that would be so small compared to the toys? Whose perspective is it?

The concept is you're in Andy's backyard and it's from the perspective of the toys. You become toy sized as you enter the land.

That doesn't really make sense. If I were toy sized, then all of the other toys would not be giant compared to me. Maybe I am a microscopic toy?

What toys exactly are "larger" than you that you consider yourself so small to be microscopic?

Crayons in the sdd queue are about 10 feet tall. elmer's glue bottle is about 15 feet tall. scrabble tiles are several feet tall. Rubik's cube is 15 feet tall. Many more.

What doesn't make sense is why you're making such a big deal out of something that hardly anyone thinks about, or frankly probably even noticed. They look at the toy decorations and go "cool". Then they go stand in the SDD line, enjoy the ride, and move on to the next ride. If I got this worked up about the theming in the parks I wouldn't have anytime to actually enjoy the rides.

So you're saying the green army men are microscopic?

Well, that's what I'm trying to figure out. The entire perspective seems to me totally inconsistent and weird. Why would a scrabble tile be bigger than a green army man toy? Why would a crayon be twice as tall as a green army man? I don't get it at all.

It sounds like you're being difficult with this subject just for the sake of it. It's toy theming meant to be fun and bright. It is Toy Story Land after all. Of all the things I could take issue with in TSL (congestion, lack of food, little shade), the size of the theming is probably the absolute LAST thing I would consider.

Thankfully, Galaxies Edge just opened up so you can quickly move out of TSL and enjoy the new land. You also can't see any of TSL from SW:GE, so you should have a good time :)

You can buy some pretty big crayons. :-)

I get what you are saying. However, you are also the same size as the characters (Woody, army men, any wondering characters). Some things have to be larger - for example, Slinky has to be big enough for the ride (obviously). However perspective tries to put you at the same size as the characters that you interact with.

The environment is oversized a bit to make the perspective work. These things can look pretty big to a toy.

Congratulations that this is the absolute LAST thing you would consider. That is indeed great news.

The last part is false. You can see parts of TSL from GE.

Again, you're being difficult for the sake of it at this point. That is definitely clear. But I won't sit and argue with you, because I'm not one of those will just argue all day long for the purpose of arguing. Have a good day.

Ah yes the old "I'm going to drop false information and then act with righteous indignation when called on it" approach. Congrats again.

I agree that the scales are definitely off for some things but the idea is that you are shrunk down to the size of a toy and are among other toys in Andy's backyard. If you really look around, the 10 ft crayons etc. don't really make sense but I think particularly for kids, and for big Toy Story fans, that's all lost on them and they think it's very cool.

Maybe they were going for a "Honey I Shrunk the Kid's" vibe as well? Miss that playground!

As the topic has turned argumentative rather than productive/respectful discussion (on Toy Story Land, of all things), closing.
