So has Disney actually said that this is supposed to open in 2018, or is that just the "guessing" going on here? If 2018, do we have any guesses as to when, and approximately how far in advance/when they'll announce it?

Disney hasn't said anything about TS's opening. It's a much simpler and quicker build than Star Wars and Disney just announced Star Wars would open in 2019, so it stands to reason that TS would open next year. That would also give Disney a new land each year: Pandora at AK in 2017, TS at DHS in 2018 and SW at DHS in 2019.

Given they announced Pandora officially about 3-4 months ahead, we have a while until the official announcement if they keep that kind of pattern. I'd be surprised if they didn't try and do it about the same way if possible. Memorial Day weekend. I think perhaps SW will be tougher to keep that schedule since it has been bandied about that it is moving slower and therefore might stretch later into 2019. But it makes sense for Disney to have these big openings in time for the summer season. Just my 2 cents obviously.

I find it odd that they've announced SW already, but that the "easier" of the two lands hasn't been announced. I would not be surprised if they held TS until SW was complete. Especially since TS4 isn't due in theaters until 6/2019.

I have a feeling we will have a date for Toy Store at the Expo later this year. They need something to talk about there and unless that is when they are going to drop Epcot revamp that and Star Wars will be all they have.

Doubtful. With Star Wars being so much more popular and the fact they had a poor earnings report they needed to generate buzz and Star Wars was it.

Then why not announce both parks? They only gave us the year for SW, saying '18 or '19 for TS wouldn't have been any more of a time commitment.

Because people are way more excited for Star Wars and they aren't going to give all the info during an earnings call. They need to save stuff for other times. Toy story is moving quickly and should be ready for summer 2018.

It is because Star Wars is what everyone is chomping at the bits for. It is a cross property expansion so drums up more interest and help for the stocks. Toy Story on the other hand is a very minor update that again they will probably talk much more about at the Expo. They can't give out all the information at every quarterly meeting as they need something for the next one.

Given the progress that they've made, they'd NEVER hold TSL until after SWL. The park needs more attractions, stat. TSL is the quick fix. SWL is the bigger deal. For the most part the attractions at TSL aren't WOW attractions. They are people eaters with great theming.

This, if anything, I could see them putting the push on to finish it even faster to a) try and get some crowds back into HS since many consider it a half day/dead park at the moment, which might also help to spread out crowds and b) to try and drum up some extra business period, especially if attendance continues to drop.

I don't see this iteration of Toy Story Land being a huge draw.

It will certainly be a huge, huge improvement for families spending more time at DHS.

It certainly does not feel like they were trying to match RSR in DCA for quality..and that's fine. It's nice to get a few more, fun rides, even if they are not E ticket. (Disney should be doing more of this in other parks, too)
