Toy Story 3 opened a day early....

Toy Story 3 premiered in Israel a day early, so DS had the opportunity to see it yesterday.

He chose TS3 over Sir Elton John, who was performing at the same time just down the road from the movie theater (the reason it took him half an hour to find a parking space).

Anyway, DS said that Toy Story 3 is AWESOME!!!!!! He said it was GREAT and that i HAVE to find a way to see it right away while i'm still at disney!!! (i'm guessing that shouldn't be a problem, what with the theaters at DTD)

so i guess that's a zillion thumbs up for anyone who wasn't sure whether to see it or not!!

My daughter and husband went to see it at a midnight show last night. I was sound asleep when they got home and neither of them is awake so I have no idea what they thought.

We're headed out this morning to catch the 2nd matinee. We pre-purchased tickets earlier this week, and when I went back for a couple more they were sold out after we got ours. My 18 year old son is the one who is most excited to see this! He and a couple of his friends are going too. I've been warned to bring tissues........seriously, I hope I don't cry as much as I did with Up!

My son is 23 and yes, he said he got very emotional, which i think means he cried (though he didn't want to say that)...

if the movie made him cry that means i should bring a few boxes when i see it (i cry for commercials)....

by the way, i forgot to say that he said it was by far the best of the 3...
and he liked the first two a lot, so i guess it's really good!!

oh no - it's so embarrassing to cry at the movies...

i was just at finding nemo the musical in AK again today and again i cried when nemo sang about how great his dad is at the end and when they tell each other 'i love you'....i do that ever time i see it...how embarrassing to cry in the middle of a themepark

Phenomenal! One of the best movies I have ever seen. Definately need tissues and lots of them, especially all the mom's out there. What a beautiful ending to the story, I wont' give away any spoliers. However love, loyalty and frienship abound in this movie and how rare a treat that is in today's crazy world and it's funny too! A real treat and a wonderful addition to an already great set of movies.

Just got back and I agree with everything people have said. It was a great movie and yes I cried.

We had a family night at the movie. Dh and I took ds1 25, his gf and ds2 20. Don't get too many of those these days.

My whole family went to see Toy Story 3 today. We were all disappointed in it. There were more scary, intense moments in the movie than comedy. My DD who is seven was upset at times. The scariest parts come when the toys are trying to get out of the landfill/garbage machine.

I just don't understand the Disney writers and executives. I think they are forgetting their key audience for this movie and other animation ones. The key audience is kids ten and under with a huge following in the six and under crowd. Kids in this age group want to see funny shows. They love the corny jokes and silly situations. They are not really into adult humor or a heavy storyline.
Disney writers need to quit trying to please each other and other adults and focus on what little kids would like to see.

All the previews showed the comic elements of the show and none of the scary stuff. If you have seen the recent tv commercials for the show, you have seen all the funny stuff. It is really too bad that Disney once again chose to do a dark comedy instead of the light-hearted plain funny show. Why or why? My kids and I would just love to see a fun light-hearted show.

Seen it and loved it. Took DS13 and two of his friends, same age...also...DD17, DD3 and myself and we all loved it...I cried too. I thought it was absolutely wonderful. Some parts were scary...but my DD3 was fine and it held her attention completely from beginning to end. They did a great job with story and the ending was extremely touching. Great Job Pixar!!!

this is the first time in many many many many many years that a disney animated movie has opened in israel at the same time as in the US. We usually get it several months later. And it's not just because of the dubbing (it's usually released in Israel in two versions, dubbed and undubbed), as i know that they have often opened in the UK at the same time as in Israel, so language isn't the only reason.

DS was sooooooooooooooooooo excited that disney chose to open this movie internationally at the same time as in the states (and really a "day earlier"), he knew he HAD to be there for opening (even if it meant heading into the massive traffic jams of the elton john concert).

He's been talking about the opening since it was announced.
To understand, some movies never even make it to us, as local movie distributors don't think it will be a big enough success to invest in the subtitles (even if there's no dubbing which is only done for animation).
For example, District 9 only was screened in Israel about 4 months after it was released worldwide.
Local distributors thought it wouldn't have a market in israel so they didn't purchase it. Then when it was a big hit, they bought it. But it takes a while to prepare for screening, so we had to wait months to be able to see it.
And animated films, even when they are picked up in advance, take forever due to the dubbing process (both subtitles and dubbing have to be added).

anyway, it's a big deal for us.
