Is there a toy store in CA similar to the one on Downtown Disney in FL that sells the special Potato Head pieces? I didn't see it listed in the Downtown Disney directory for CA

Sadly, I do not think so. I know that the fun or unique Potato Head pieces were one of the "Pinterest Disney Myths" that I was excited about on our first trip. I had read you can get Disney specific pieces like Mickey ears, Mickey Ice cream bars, and balloons, and it would be one price for all the pieces you could fit in a bucket, but when I asked the CM at the store next to TSMM, they said they had stocked stuff for a few years and then it disappeared and hasn't returned. Too bad, I bet they'd be selling a lot of pieces!

I remember seeing those at Disneyland (in ToonTown, I believe) back in 2003 or 2006. They were really cool! Too bad they don't do that anymore.

It’s not that it’s a myth, more that it’s been discontinued. There was a toy store in the front of the park during the old DCA days. It did have the potato pieces. It did not return when DCA was redone. I wonder if it was a money loss for Disney. The idea was you would get a potato head body and then fill the body and the remainder of the box with pieces. But people began to spread the idea that you could buy the body at a regular store for cheap and then fill the box at the park with all of the special pieces and no body.

Thanks for the answers. Last year when we were at WDW, we filled a giant potato head with pieces. There was no requirement that you put a body in. We were disappointed that there weren't very many special pieces. Only a Minnie princess hat, Goofy hat, pin trading necklace, pop cup, popcorn, Disney crocs and some Star Wars hats, feet and a wand that kind of looks like a potato masher. We were hoping to get more at DL
