I feel sure there must be a thread out there which answers my question but I haven't located it. I'm looking for an idea of what the proper tip % should be for the driver. I know better service = better tip but what is everyone's starting point?

Thanks,
Carolyn

15% is my starting point, as with all other services. For service above and beyond, like carrying heavy luggage any kind of distance, having a great attitude, etc.. I'll go to 20%.

Wow... I guess I've just been OVERTIPPING... for a $80 trip, I just pay $100 to make it a nice even amount!

I do $10 each way. If I make a grocery stop or have a lot of luggage I add an extra $5 or $10. on my last trip we got hung up in the airport for over an hour waiting for my SIL to show up on her flight...and I tipped the driver $25.

I'm so glad that someone asked this question because I'm taking a Tiffany Town Car in September. I was planning to tip 15% but I read that you should tip your driver on the way there and again on the way back (if you have two different drivers), however you pay the first driver for the service. Therefore, do I tip each driver 15%?

We just used Tiffany Towncar for the first time - it was great! - and tipped $10 each way.

I appreciate everyone's response. I guess I'll start with the 15%, divide the fee by 2 and pay half the tip each way. I'll probably add some extra for the grocery stop if we decide to take advantage. All I'd want is a stop to pick up lottery tickets, soda, and water. I may pack the soda & water and just ask for a lottery stop! :jester:

I've checked out all the different companies but I've decided to use FL Tours. The only thing I don't like is the fact they don't accept credit cards but that's a small thing. I've been reading these boards for years and feel I should show my support by using the sponsor. This will be the first time I've used a town car service so I hope things go well. I'm taking my 16yo son and his best friend to Universal.

Thanks again,
Carolyn

Don't pack carbonated drinks in your luggage, they may explode all over your stuff in the cargo hold. Besides sodas are heavy! Stop and buy them at the grocery.

You know I didn't even think about the possiblity of this happening. :o Thanks so much. I would have hated spending my first night washing all the clothes.
