How early will a towncar pick up at a resort to go to MCO? ME comes
3hrs ahead and we would prefer not to have to leave so early.

A towncar service won't care what time you want to be picked up or when your flight is, its entirely up to you.

Even with a town car, I would want to be picked up no less than 2 and a half hours before my flight. Security lines can be horrendous at MCO - you want to be there 2 hours before your flight.

Not totally true. Most will tell you they want to pick you up 2 1/2 hours before your flight.

Three hours may seem like a ton of time, but really it is not. The ride to the airport is around 45 minutes or so, depending on traffic. And traffic can be pretty horrible. Then you have to deal with what I think is one of the worst security check lines out there. So half your 3 hours is gone, if everything runs perfectly. Boarding starts 30 minutes or more from when your plane is scheduled to depart. That leaves only an hour cushion for anything that could go wrong. Not really a ton of time.

I have had a lot of towncar drivers try to tell me that if they pick us up 90 mins prior to departure, we'll be fine. Ah, no. There is a reason MCO recommends getting to the airport 2 hrs prior to flight time. So, when I use a car service, I always have them show up 2.5 hrs prior to departure. Security at MCO can be really nasty...and you don't want to be standing in that line, stressing over the fact that your flight is going to start boarding in 30 mins.

I realize that being picked up 3 hrs before your flight seems excessive. But, it really isn't. You save maybe 30-45 mins using a car service....or better said, going back to MCO in some way other than DME. It's up to each person to decide what works best for them, and their family. I just like everyone to have the correct info in order to make a well thought out decision.

Thanks for the input! I remember now that there can some long lines. I think we will go DME and get a later flight.
