My DH and I will be celebrating out first anniversary in December with a week long stay at the Grand Floridian. From everything I have read in the various books and websites it appears that there are a few lagoon view rooms in Boca Chica, Conch Cay, and one other building besides the main building that have views of the Castle.

When I called CRO to make our reservations I booked a lagoon view room and asked her to put in the comments section that we would like a view of the castle. She told me that lagoon view rooms don't have a view of the castle, only tower rooms and suites have views of the castle. That didn't seem correct to me so I asked her if she could just capture our request in the comments section.

She then proceeded to argue with me for about 5 minutes about this. I told her that I understand that those kinds of requests can't be guarenteed but my understanding is that some lagoon view rooms do have views of the castle. She told me that she was looking at all of the descriptions and the only one's that list a view of the castle are the tower rooms and suites. I said that I think those are the only rooms that are GUARENTEED to have a Castle view and that the reason the computer doesn't mention a castle view of the lagoon view rooms is because not ALL of them have a Castle view so they can't advertise them that way.

I finally got a bit mad and said "Look maybe I'm wrong and I understand that I may not be able to get a view of the castle but I would still like for you to note my request." I can't say that I've ever had a CM argue with me before! I'm going to call back to make sure our request was noted. But . . . does anyone know if some lagoon view rooms have a view of the Castle. I haven't read anything anywhere that says only tower rooms and suites have Castle views. In the end, it's really no big deal but now I'm curious!!

I wish that people at CRO wouldn't assume. She was dead wrong.

I've stayed in TWO non-suite rooms in Conch Cay that both had great castle views.

Actually, I'm nearly positive that the lodge tower rooms all face the interior garden and I know of at least 3 honeymoon turret suites that don't have a castle view. I would just call back another CM and make sure that you're castle request was duly noted. You can also ask them at the check-in desk when you register. Not all lagoon views will overlook the MK, but if there's one available, they should have no problem placing you in that particular room.

Disneyvoice, I hope you have a wonderful anniversary trip to WDW. Congratulations!

My husband and I have celebrated many (many) anniversaries in WDW and have fond memories of each of them. We have spent quite a few of those anniversaries at the Grand Floridian Resort (including our last one). I planned each of our anniversary celebrations, thereby leaving nothing to chance. Everything came off without a hitch. We’ll be celebrating our next anniversary in WDW, too, so I probably should plan something soon (yikes!).

Do call your Travel Agent and make sure that it is noted on your reservation that you would like a Lagoon View Room with a Magic Kingdom/Castle view.

In the main building to get a castle view you have to request marina view..yes the lagoon is behind it..but the view is called marina. We stayed for our anniversary last year..main building concierge. It was a total nightmare. Not impressive at all.

I hope your stay is better.

Janet and Tammi,
Do either of you know whether the tower rooms in Sugar Loaf Key can accomodate 5? I have requested this room when we were a party of 4 but we are now a party of 5. Long story...that has completely changed our vow renewal plans ;)
Thanks,
Kerri

Kerri,

I would definitely suggest dropping an e-mail to your pre-planner and having them check on this for you. We're a family of 5 and whenever I've tried to request a tower or even deluxe room, I've been told that they only accommodate 4 guests over the age of 3. I'd get the official word though before you make any changes to your exisiting reservation.

We've stayed in Boca Chica, room 8317, and THAT ROOM has a castle view, and I have the pictures to prove it. LOL

Now, having said that, the castle is to your left. Straight ahead was those 2 small "islands" in the middle of Seven Seas Lagoon, beyong them, straight ahead was the Contemporary resort. To the right of the Contemporary, over the tops of the trees, we could see the green roofing of the Wilderness Lodge building. And to our right was a great view of the Polynesian resort.

That room, 8317 in Boca Chica, has a view of the ENTIRE lagoon area, including a view of the castle. I would have to believe that the surrounding rooms would have the same/very similar view as our room. :)

We've stayed in several Lagoon View rooms (Boca Chica) that had beautiful views of the castle. It was my understanding that none of the tower rooms has a view of the castle - I thought they were only pool view.

We had a fantastic lagoon/castle view in the Sago Cay building. I wish I could remember the room #, but that was well over a year ago. We watched "WISHES" while drinking champagne on our balcony. Looks like that CM was WAY wrong and trying to be argumentative.

Just a hint...check in a little early and you might get an even better upgrade. We spent our first anniversary at GF (had also gotten married at WDW and stayed at the GF the year before). We checked in about an hour early and they upgraded us to one of the turret rooms (4421) and it had a view of EVERYTHING - including the castle, of course. When I made those reservations, I requested a lagoon view/castle view room, too. The CM did not argue w/ me at all...and then we ended up in an even better room, anyway.

Love and Pixie Dust to you!!!

Isn't that room on the 4th floor of the main building? Did you already have a concierge room booked? If not, that was an incredible upgrade! We had #4021, which was 5th floor main building a year ago and it was just beautiful. What a nice surprise for you.

Tammi...we had a regular (non-concierge) Lagoon View Room booked, and Yes, that room is 4th floor concierge in the main building. It was an amazing upgrade. I was thanking God, Tinkerbell and Walt Disney, himself, for that one.
I think it took DH and I both several weeks to come down from that high!

I think my original post might have been a little confusing...we stayed in a Sago Cay Lagoon/Castle view room for our wedding in 2004...we got the turret room upgrade for our annioversary in 2005.

I just re-read my original post and I look either very confused or like a complete numbskull (which isn't too far off of the truth!!! :earboy2: )

Tower rooms will only take 4, not 5. There is no daybed in the tower room - they have a couch instead. So they won't book 5 unless one is under 3, I think.

We were in Boca Chica 8423 and had a full view of Space Mountain and the train station and a view of the castle through the trees. This was a king room with a sleeper sofa. We were offered another room farther over that had two queens but no castle view. Email me of you'd like to see pictures from the balcony as I don't know how to post them here.

Tammi and Snurk71,
Thanks for your replies. That's what I was afraid of. We are now taking my foster baby, who is 3, so we won't be able to get the tower room :guilty:
She does still sleep in a crib at home so maybe they would consider us taking the tower room. It would be nice to have the extra space.
Kerri

The cribs at GF (and maybe all of WDW) are not the full-sized variety you have at home. I would guess them at maybe 2/3 to 1/2 size of a regular crib. DD slept in one when she was 15 months old. I don't think there is any way she would comfortably fit at 3 years. They have pack 'n plays available too.

Tower rooms are only available by request in SL. So there was a good chance you would miss out anyway. I don't know that I felt like there was much extra space in the tower room either by the time you had a crib and high chair added in. They stock the extra sitting area with a loveseat, coffee table, armoire with second tv (smaller armoire than the main room one), a sitting table and a couple of chairs. So the extra space is eaten up with furniture.
