Tower of Terror is my favorite ride at DW. I just love to go on it over and over. :yay: I know the one at DL is a bit different and does not go forward like the DW one, but I keep reading conflicting info about whether it has random drops or not. If it has the same drop sequence each time, it probably is not as much fun to do repeatedly since you know what to expect.

If it is not random, I wonder why they haven't made that change like they did at DW. From the shows I have watched on tv, it was a pretty simple programming change.

I know I will love it anyway, but just curious.

I've been told it does not have random drops.

I did not notice the drops being random last August. I was laughing so hard I do not think I paid attention. What fun.

It does not have random drops, and I wish it did. If you like TOT at WDW you will really be let down with this one.

I think I read in an update somewhere somewhat recently that they were going to be bringing the random drops to DCA sometime in the near future? I don't think I am imagining this...will have to try and find it.

Wow, I've ridden ToT at DCA many times and I always thought it was random. :confused3 Guess I was having so much fun screaming that I didn't notice! :rotfl2: Even when I've ridden it several times in a row.

I have ridden both, many times, and I prefer DCA more. No bothering with the going forward bit, straight to the drops. And the cool special effect when you become ghosts.

Oh and one last difference-I can get to the one at DCA in about an hour, or so, from home and it takes me almost a day to get to the one at DHS.

That being said, I ride both versions, every time. Love them both!

Well I finally got on that ride and I will never do it again. I do not like it at all. The drops are so aggressive.
You guys are so going to laugh when I say this....my eyes were teary in the video room and when the doors shut on the ride, my head was in my lap. Yes I came off the ride with somewhat wet glasses.

As a WDW vet, I really enjoyed the version at DCA. What? I know shocking, right? But here's the thing: I knew that it didn't move like WDW, and I didn't know what was actually going to happen. So I was on the edge of my seat just waiting for it to drop...and when it didn't and went to a new scene, it just made me more anxious...LOVED IT! :rotfl:

That being said, if I were to do it a second time (I only did it once) I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

Even though DCA's ToT is not random like DHS, it is still one of my favorite attractions and definitely re-rideable. I would not say that someone would be disappointed with a high-quality Disney experience just because it's not a random drop sequence. One thing that is better at DCA....the lines. DCA's ToT usually doesn't get a wait longer than 30-40 min even during the busiest of times. It also doesn't develop a long line until mid-afternoonish.

I'm sorry you did not like it. The first year I went on it I was scared to death. Then the next time we went to DW we went on it again, and I was like, "WHY am I doing this to myself again?"

But by the third time, I was hooked!!! Now I just can't get enough when we go.

I am sure I will still love it! I just LOVE the airtime!! and that is the same no matter what the drop sequence. Plus, I have been on it so many times in HS that last trip I actually learned what the drop sequence will be after the first drop or launch up, depending on the ride.

I do not think this is a high quality experience when I compare the two. The theaming of the DCA TOT line is non excitant. The fact it does not have random drops is just one reason why this version of TOT did not stand up to WDW. Also, when I go to WDW I never wait in line. in the last three years or so, I have only waited to get into the Library may at the longest 10 min. I don't like when you enter the car, you can see the way out at DCA. I do not like the two level loading area at DCA as well. I do think the boiler room at DCA is amazing.

1. The lobby at DCA is almost the same as the lobby at DHS. The outside line might not be themed, but the DHS theme outside is not very much more than some plants and "park type theming" (I don't know how to describe it). I do not see very much difference between line themes. Although, you do admit that the boiler room at DCA is good.

2. No random drops = same ride every time. So what makes something like Space Mountain or Rock 'n Roller Coaster a high-quality experience? It's not because it changes every time. It's because they are thrilling and immersive, exactly what ToT is. Maybe ToT at DHS is better because of the random drop sequence, but ToT is not low-quality.

3. ToT's line at DHS is the 3rd longest in the park and can reach 60+ minutes during busy times. The fact that DHS has a higher overall attendance and ToT is one of their huge draws = longer lines in general. Obviously, if you go during off season or early in the morning, both ToTs will have short lines. However, overall, ToT at DCA is less popular and has shorter lines.

4. Ok, that exit hallway is kinda annoying, but certainly does not detract a ton from the attraction as a whole.

5. The two level loading is genius. I'm not sure why you don't like it because it shortens wait times. It increases capacity a ton, especially when all elevators are running.

Well, it doesn't sound like it will be as good as HS, but I am confident that it will still be great. There are always certain rides that are better at each park. I guess I will just have to ride Pirates more times at DL to make up for ToT.

It is smiple in my eyes, TOT is better at WDW plane and simple. The DCA version is still fun and exciting, and if you have never been on the WDW one, you would think it was a great attraction. Think of it like Fantasmic. The DLR one is so much better. The WDW one is a good show but it is just missing something so it is not as good.

You forgot to mention...
WDW ToT is broken at least once a day!

Honestly, I never noticed that DCA's isn't random. I remember when WDW's first opened...once you get into the shaft: drop half a foot, shoot to the top, drop halfway down, back up, all the way down. I had it memorized in two rides when I was 14. At DCA, you up and down a few more times, and i'm too busy looking at my kids and watching my lanyard try to fly off my head to be bored!

Plus, I've never stayed at a hotel in WDW that I can look out the window and see the ToT!

I think you are pretty much right on. I do like ToT at DHS better because of the random sequences and the room where you move out of the shaft (fifth dimension room?). Not sure how to describe it but ride feels like a bigger and more full experience.
