:happytv: I was just watching an episode of Modern Marvels that featured WDW and as they were discussing all the fascinating features at Tower of Terror, I starting wishing they had a way for folks to experience it without the 'thrill' portion of the ride. Don't get me wrong, my DH is salivating at the thought of the newer version with the computer choosing a different experience each ride and I'm sure DD15 and her friend will be on it again and again. Even DS9 is looking forward to his very first ToT experience. :bounce:

But I am just not into the thrills. Okay, I'm chicken. I admit it. But hey, I think it would be awesome cool to be able to go inside the hotel and have some sort of ride (maybe on the line of a Haunted Mansion sort of thing) that let you take a tour, have some experience, without the elevator drop!

I read that Mission: Space has two versions. One for regular folks and one for the rest of us. So why not?

Just a thought. :surfweb:

Yeah, that would be cool... but you can always go inside the queue area and look at it, and then when it's time to take the ride, just tell the cm that you just wanted to see the inside and now what to leave... you could do that, because the queue area is nice and creepy ha! ha! ;)

Lately I have been thinking along those same lines. I always say that I will get in line and take the chicken exit, but I don't know if it would be worth the time. This is my idea - I want them to set aside 1 hour each day that the elevator would fall only once. As scared as I would be, I do think that I could be talked into that. If I came down 1 time and hated it, at least I'd know that I wouldn't have to do that another 2 or three times. I know that I am not the only one who would have the courage to come down just once.

I'm all for this idea.........as long as we then put a 7 story drop in It's a Small World. :teeth: :teeth:

Ehhh... the drop isn't all that bad. It's more the anticipation of it than anything, once you get over that, it's quite enjoyable actually.

KEEP YOUR GRUBBY HANDS OFF OF SMALL WORLD!

I was once convinced to ride ToT and I am telling you I would never go on it again, even with one drop. Nope. Nothing doing.

I agree, they do an excellant job of working you into this terrified frenzy and then when you actually do drop your like, That's it??? My 11 year old son was totally freaked :scared1: by the time we reached the top of the tower and after we got off he said that the ride up scared him more then the ride down. (We went up and down 6 times  :cool1: )

The CM's and their costumes (and their attitudes!); the books on the shelves; the furniture and the cobwebs ... You all should watch "Sunset Boulevard" to get the fading 30's Hollywood glory that's depicted.

I don't necessarily appreciate the stomach-churning, but I LOVE THE STORY!

The drop(s) & lift(s) are typical ride stuff, but ToT, like so many other WDW attractions isn't about the g-forces or the ride.

Talk to the CM's (who will stay in character as) they explain the various features of the Hollywood Hotel and why . . "next time, I suggest you take the stairs!"

ToT is essential Disney

Same with Exp.Everest (we went on during a "preview" weekend this past January) -- I live 40 mins. away from 6 Flags Great Adventure in NJ where they have 10+ of the greatest roller coasters in the world. Maybe when my son is older -- Right now, I love the entire experience of the WDW attraction.

Talk to the CM's they know and they will help you appreciate what the Hollywood Hotel is all about and why you, "next time, I suggest you take the stairs!"

::yes::

Too Funny, I could imagine it now... everyone getting on Small World thinking nothing's changed, and about half way through a drop that rivals that of Splash Mountain...

you've got me looking for pictures of it's a small world and splash mountain so i can photoshop a drop in there.... can't find any good ones though :(

:lmao:

I went on with my son he was 13 at the time. My 18 year old and 10 year old wouldn't go on....lol. I had never done any "drop" rides so I didn't know what to expect. I was scared out of my wits. I almost went the chicken exit route, but my son really wanted to go on and he wouldn't go on himself. But you know what? It's really not that bad, the anticipation of it is what really gets you.

When we went in 2004 this was the first ride we went on...Yes the anticipation is what gets you....however, bf was sitting next to another girl...it was her, him, then me...and during the drop she kept hitting him in the....um...yeah there...and she continued to do this everytime the ride dropped screaming "i'm sorry i'm sorry!!!"
OUCH!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: That is soooo funny! Sorry for your DBF, but soooo funny!

On that Modern Marvels show, they talked about how they can completely vary the experience using their computer system. The ride vehicles are not on tracks, instead they have a sensor on the bottom that picks up a computer signal out of the floor. So, it seems to me, they could program a circuit that did not allow the ride vehicle to fall out of the window!

That way, the chickens could get all of the anticipation, appreciate all the Disneyana, without being totally and completely terrified.

Just think it would not only appeal to us chickens, but also all those folks with back problems, heart problems and pregnant women too! They could get a tax write off for the change saying it was to bring the ride in compliance with the ADA! :jumping1:
