Tower of Terror queue

I'm planning to ride Tower of Terror for the first time during my trip next April. Currently I'm planning to get a FP+ for it.

But it hit me that I might be missing the best parts of the queue if I fastpass.

So tell me, wise ones......to FP+ or not? My main interest in this ride is the theming so how much will I be missing if I fastpass instead of going standby?

You will not miss any theming by using a FP+ for ToT.

If you happen to see it when the wait is low, like at park opening, it's still fun to wander through the queue and see the gardens outside of the hotel, to read the signs, and get some cool photos of the beautiful building (it's one of my favorite rides!!). But if waits are high (for me that's over 30 min!), Fast Pass is the way to go. The main thematic parts are inside, but they don't skimp on details outside either!

Agree that the only thing that they might miss is the extra time in the lobby area. But they can stand to the side and let other FP persons by if they want to spend a minute looking around.

I don't mind a (reasonable) wait in the TOT queue. TOT is my #2 attraction in all of WDW and I enjoy listening to the music and generally taking-in the view. The lobby is the obvious highlight of the queue.

You will be fine on FP for ToT. The only thing you miss is the garden areas, but you can see those just by walking in the standby line when it's not to long and see everything. But I am so glad someone actually asked a question like this. Most folks want to do FP+ and move on but the wife and I have a general rule of thumb, whenever a new ride/attraction opens we will get a FP if we can, but we also try to find a standby wait of no more than an hour and also ride at least one time standby. We did this for FOP and I am so glad we did. There is so much detail and things to see in that line that never seeing it would have been an injustice to the imagineers who designed it! We learned this lesson years ago before FP when we were at Disneyland and the Indiana Jones ride had just opened. We rode it quite a few times and there was nothing but standby. It seemed every time we went through the line we found something new. The kids had a great time looking for things.

The outside Queue through the gardens is nice, but not that special. The part you don't want to miss is inside and you see that with stand by and FP.
