I rode ToT this past weekend, and I noticed new effects. I'm pretty sure these are the ones discussed for Summer Nightastic. They looked awesome. Anyone else rode lately and encountered the same thing?

I'm not sure what effects were planned for the Summer Nightastic, but I did notice some things when I rode it last month. After a few drops, I noticed this shadowy figure when the doors opened to the dark. After the ride was over, I asked my sister, and she had seen it too.

My daughter rode this a couple of weeks ago. She kept mentioning ghosts during the ride. This was her first ride so I was not sure what she meant. She is only 9. Maybe the effects were already in place then too! She said these scared the poop out of her more than the drops!

I last rode it at the end of March and there was definitely additional lighting effects, on your ride from the lift chamber to the drop chamber, additional lighting effects in the drop and there were people at the bottom when the door opened, but I thought I may have noticed them at the end of March. I like the changes.

I was so freaked out on that ride last month that I don't remember anything after the ghosts waved us on in their direction other than holding on to my niece for dear life and shouting, "Oh my God I can't believe I'm about to do this." LMAOOO

I don't think that's the "new lighting effect". While they're definitely pretty new, I saw them at the beginning of March before the effect was even announced. I tend to think they're adding something else.

I went two on the 25th of April and I didn't notice anything different.

I agree with all of this.

The ghosts in various parts of the ride (BEFORE and DURING the drop sequence) have been there for years.

Their first appearance in the hallway (first time the elevator doors open after your elevator trip has begun) will always
occur.

But, the ghosts' appearance DURING the drop sequence may or may not happen on any particular trip, as they are part of the "random effects" chosen (or not) by the computer controlling your particular ride.

Oh, okay. Nobody ever mentions them. Just the drops!

They have not been new effects, but I have been to the parks 5 times since December, and what I saw last Sunday was definitely different than the previos 4 trips. The shadowy figures I've always thought was there. The lighting was different for sure in different spots than any of the other times I've riden in December, February or March. I wish I would have rode it one more time. Guess I'll try it again in 4 weeks.

I'm curious if we're talking about the same things. What I saw in March is in the drop shaft. In some of the drop sequences, it stops you at a place where there are bent pipes. They blow air and steam and make loud air horn type noises. They aren't too new, they've been there for a while. But in March, now they have the ghosts reappear at that point. It was only two of them - one on each side of it. Not positive, but I think it was always the same two ghosts - the one I recall seeing every time was the nanny.

I hope you're right! We're leaving Saturday, and I was really hoping the new drop sequence and lighting effects would start during our trip.

I have been here 10 days and yesterday was lucky enough to ride it 8 times during the day, low crowds ,in that park at least, and did not see anything I havent seen before.
You see "people" in the shaft like before and when you are rolling out to the drop....
I had several different sequences and it was great but nothing new that I noticed....
That is my favorite ride in any of the Disney parks. Hoping to ride again tomorrow before I have to head home Thursday!

New effects will be awesome. I will get to see them in December. It should be easy to add the new effects to the ride.

The first time I've seen the ghosts during the drops was actually the last time I rode, apparently I've just had rotten luck to miss it every time previously. It's now my favorite part, and makes for a wonderfully creepy effect; whizzing by the flickering spectors at such a high rate of speed leaves you thinking, "Did I just see that?"

Neither of those are the ones I'm referring to. The first is when you're rising in the elevator and it stops on a floor - the ghosts motion to you to come to them, everything turns to stars, the window breaks, the door closes, and you start moving up again. The second is when you see the clocks ticking as you're moving forward into the drop shaft. The ghosts I'm referencing in my previous post are during the dropping sequence - some of the ride sequences involve a stop where you stop in the middle of dropping and see the ghosts a third time on a random floor, not on the screen at the bottom where they also sometimes appear. (Wow, you can see the ghosts a lot! :rotfl:)

I think the ghosts that I'm referencing are part of what the original poster was talking about when asking if that's the new lighting sequence. I described it in hopes the original poster will clarify and confirm whether or not what I'm describing is the same as what they saw. We always ride ToT many, many times and did not see this set of ghosts last May or December - the first time we saw them was this March. The floor they are on is not new, but the ghosts are new since I went in December. However I don't think this is the new "lighting effect" because I saw them before the announcement.

As for me . . . my eyes were closed!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: so are mine, and I don't ever intend to open them till I am safely back on the ground. I can't look cause then I'll start screaming and if that happens oh my goodness, It will be all over for me and everyone else on the ride.:scared1::lmao:

DW and I have an agreement. I don't like going upside down and she doesn't like dropping. So we no longer ride Tower of Terror and Rockin' Rollar Coaster.

But anyways, we've only ridden them once to appease each others needs (I wanted to try Tower, she wanted to try Rockin'), and both times my eyes were closed, so... I can't help you, and this was useless to your question.. sorry.:confused3
