Tower of Terror Drop-Sound Effects?

Rode ToT during EMH this morning and the drop sequence was eerily quiet. Do they usually pipe in sounds during the drop? I’d never noticed it before.

I've never noticed any sound effects, but then I don't think I've ever been on when people weren't screaming.

I've never thought I've heard any sound effects. Only the screams of others around and the noise of the elevator dropping and being pulled back up

I never thought there were effects either but this time was strange-no mechanical sounds or anything. Just a very gentle whooshing sound.

There’s sometimes some effect sounds of the elevator creaking or the cable “snapping”. But outside of that it’s usually just ambient noise from the riders

I’m so scared of this ride and have refused to ride it since day 1. Id like to do it this year and make up the courage but nope probably not

You should try hard to gather your courage. I hate coasters (big ones - I can’t handle launch on rockin rollercoaster and Everest makes me feel crappy with the backwards part). Anyway I love ToT. Love it! I was terrified to ride first time but dragged my then 70 yr old Mom with me. We both loved it. She then dragged my 76yr old dad on it (while I watched my kiddo - we didn’t plan on all riding so didn’t use child swap dang it). Anyway he loved it. He has a bad back (so do I) and it didn’t bother our backs at all. It isn’t that scary because you don’t plummet all the way down for the most part. You bounce up and down. It does do a tummy tickle so you need to be aware of that. The atmosphere of the ride is just so cool. Please try to do it next trip. If for nothing else than to say you did it!

ToT looks scarier than it is. It's a fun ride

I hate the sensation of falling. HATE it! I have ridden it more than once because the effects are so nice. Plus I feel kind of a sense of accomplishment when it's over.

Try it. You might end up loving it but if you don't try it you'll never know.

If it helps, the car isn't actually dropping in a freefall. You are being pulled downward by a cable.

Definitely not. You can feel it pulling but I still hold on to the handle anyway. My bag usually goes flying as well, if I don't remember to put it between my feet.

TOT is a candidate for best attraction on property. I encourage anyone to give it a shot, it's actually exhilarating.

Dr Doom is NOT a drop ride! It shoots you up really fast, so you get a sense of weightlessness at the top. It is really short (TOO short). I don't like dangly feet drop rides (the Pittfall at Kennywood was one of those) but I like Dr Doom and LOVE ToT!

As mentioned, Dr. Doom is not your typical drop ride You do drop but the point is more that you go shooting up & the drops are pretty tame.

TOT is nothing like Zumanjaro/Lex Luthor/whichever version of the drop tower you have at your local Six Flags.

I do love "vertical rides" such as Dr. Doom and ToT. My favorite though is Falcon's Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa. You ride to the top in your "sitting in a secured chair position. Then they aim you facing down directly at the ground and "drop" you. As you approach the ground you quickly resume the seated position. It is meant to simulate a "birds eye view" as you swoop in on your prey.

Shout out here for Kennywood We so miss the Pittfall since they took it out!!
