Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

I booked at POFQ, 3 nights for $483. Room only.
We qualify for military discounts, but the current promotion will end just before TOT--so if they release another good military promotion, we will look into that.

So we're not doing TOT, but thought I'd chime in that for W&D in November we got a 2 night rate at PO-FQ of $322. There were no comparable standard rooms available for comparison on the Disney site, but this is only $55.32 more than our previous reservation for All-Star Sports for that weekend.

Why I'm mentioning this here is to relay the following information about their room reservations as they were conveyed on my call. It is a bit less flexible than other room-only reservations. You can make any changes or cancellations outside of 45 days from the date of your arrival, after which time changes will incur a $50 fee (44-15 days out) and an additional $15 fee if changed within 2 weeks of arrival. If you cancel within 44-2 days of your arrival you will forfeit your deposit, and if you cancel within 2 days of your arrival you will forfeit the entire cost of the reservation.

While less flexible than standard room-only reservations, there's still quite a bit of latitude there to watch for room-only discounts and make changes. So not too bad if you have a particular hotel you want and would like the peace of mind knowing you have a reservation in place.

We actually have 2 reservations at POR. I have the Run Disney reservation and then I have a regular package booked that my travel agent will convert to free dining if/when that comes out. When that happens, we'll compare and determine which is the best for us and drop the other.

Note: It also requires a $200 deposit for the RunDisney even though it is room only. It is treated like a package.

I just signed up for this run! This will be my 4th Disney running event - 2 W&Ds and 1 GSC at the PHM. Anyone else running alone and want someone to run with? That's the only thing I'm worried about - my running buddy won't be with me!

Thank you.

Thanks for the link too. This helps alot. I'm a DSLR girl, but no way I'm carrying my 60D during a race. I haven't looked at point and shoots forever.

Thanks for the parking too. I live so close (i'm at 4 corners), I'd hate to pay for a room when parking at WWoS is just as easy.

I ran with a lady in Dopey carrying a 60D; or a model very near it in appearance. I thought crazy as well. No way is the D600 hitting the trails while I run.

I cannot imagine bringing my d700 out to run with, crazy sauce.

For someone asking about pricing. There are 3 of us staying, 2 running. We booked Caribbean Beach plus 5 day park hoppers and the ticket for the after party for the person not running. Checking in 10/1 checking out 10/6 and we were at $1700. That was the rundisney discount. When I priced that at regular rates it was like $2400

Well fudgeballs ... the only 10K in Bay County, FL will be on April 12 ... when I'm down at WDW for my college's trip. Guess I'm gonna be stuck in the last corral unless something else pops up on there that I can get in before the July 1 deadline :(
I'm also in Bay Co., FL. I'm doing the Fiesta 10k in Pensacola, FL for my proof of time. It's on May 3rd.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it lol) I'll be at AK for the EEC 5K that day.

I just have really crappy timing for things this year I guess.

We're heading to WDW for the ToT and starting to look for rooms. Are the standard rates the same as if you go through the RunDisney site for the moderate rooms? I now there's a discount for Port Orleans and Carribean.

Do you think they will offer discounted rooms rates sitewide later in the year??

Ran the Dopey this year for the first RunDisney race. AMAZING!!!:cool1:

I'm in!! Can't wait...now to figure out the airfare and other good stuff. Is anyone on this board a ToT veteran? Wondering if they have Halloween party that weekend.

We usually just do the kids races so I can't claim the role of veteran - but there is definitely MNSSHP this week..I haven't looked at the schedule for this year yet, but usually Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday nights have parties!

That's great - looking forward to a weekend of Disney late nights instead of really early mornings!!

Us too! I'm glad I'll have plenty of time to get dressed and ready rather than rushing around before coffee, haha! Especially considering we have never run in costume before :)

I just officially registered. I said I was going to do it a while ago but I had cold feet. I am still nervous but I finally decided to do it. Now I have to start the training, which is the part I am most worried about. Let the fun begin.:)

I believe runDisney has discounts available at all the moderate hotels (and other tiers) that are host resorts. Not sure whether or not any others besides POR and Caribbean are host resorts, but that information is out there.

Historically the resorts look like they've offered discounts. However, it will likely vary in % and total discounted rooms available by resort based on capacity. So if enough people book now it could limit discount options later.

Yep. I waited on AP rates last year and came up short; by the time they released, availability at the AP rate was very, very limited and was for the most expensive views. I'd have done better with the rD discount for a host mod. Since I have a car, I used a GP discount plus a code through Travelocity rate at a non-host and still got a better rate than rD or AP, which was fine, but something to keep in mind for folks who won't have cars.

Random question ... do AP discounts apply to the tent campsites at Fort Wilderness? And how far out do the discounts get released? I'd love to stay on property for the races, but there's just no way I can afford a $150/night hotel room by myself. But if I toss an air mattress in the back of my Element, I've got a portable "cabin" :)

I will stay at Art of Animation Resort from 09/29 to 10/09 but looking at rundisney.com i found that AoA isn't an host resort and transportation is only available from host resorts.
Can i take bus from Pop Century or i have to find another way to reach the start and get back?

I don't think the tent sites are ever eligible for discounts, but I could be wrong. You may want to ask the folks in the camping board.

Yep, just grab a race bus from Pop!
