Can someone tell me how the towel service works. We are buying at BLT. I understand that when staying in a studio on points that on day 4 we get trash & towel service. What do you do if you need more towels daily? My guide said that they were always available. Is this correct? Thanks

Extra towel packs can be purchased - I think they are about $6. Others have asked mousekeepers for more and received them.

You may buy additional towel packs (call housekeeping). I believe you would have to buy again after the T&T day.. I cannot locate the towel pack price, but paying for an additional T&T service is $15 for a studio..
You could buy or bring detergent and wash them at the free DVC laundry room (not as easy as using the in-room W/D in the 1BR+ units, but still affordable)

Some guides (mine did too, during the talk) say you can grab pool towels, but you are technically not supposed to do that, and the pool towels are not sanitized to the same standards as room towels.

they are available - for a price. DVC is a timeshare, owners pay for new towels and laundry through their annual dues. most of us don't wash our towels every day at home...so those that want DVC to provide fresh towels daily are asked to pay extra for that (or they can launder their own towels at the DVC resorts). but actual enforcement of this policy will vary...

from the DVC member website:

Thanks for the information. My guide neglected to tell me that there would be a charge for the extra towels. I never reuse towels at home. I guess I will have to pay $6.00 daily for the extra towels. Do you contact housekeeping do get the extra towels?

Yes, it is best for you to call housekeeping directly on your room phone. Communication between the front desk and housekeeping isn't always the best, so if you do call the front desk, you may not get your towels.

Thanks for the information. We are just buying in at BLT and I am so unaware of how everything works. I have taken 18 trips in the last 6 years to WDW. I know the ins and outs of the resorts but I'm totally in the dark about DVC. :confused3 Any and all information / advice is greatly appreciated.

If you like daily cleaning in a hotel room, you won't get it in a timeshare. If you stay 7 nights or fewer, you just get the trash removed and towels replaced on day 4. If you stay 8 nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day 4 and your trash removed and towels replaced on day 8.

DVC won't provide rollaways or cots. You can have as many people as the room sleeps and that's all. And if you have opposite sex kids or friends who would rather not sleep together, they still won't provide a rollaway or cot.

If you like getting the special deals that Disney offers from time to time like free dining or buy 4 get 3 free, you can't use those deals on points stays. You have to make a regular cash reservation for a package through DRC.

Buy purchasing DVC, you kiss good-by the daily room cleaning, as many towels as you like, the free dining, etc.

Not trying to be a thorn in your side, but using a new towel every day is really not what you might call "being green". I have a well for water so I only use electricity to wash my towels, but a new towel every day is beyond my tolerance for need. I wash MY towel once a week. You might as well wash your bed linens daily if you need a new towel daily. Actually, your bed linens are likely more soiled than your towels are. I mean you use your towel to dry yourself off after washing yourself. You are likely to sweat over night in the bed. Just some thoughts.

I just wanted to say that you will fall in love with the towels at BLT.:lovestruc

We stayed there last month and although I don't care for the units, the location, fireworks show (and bar on top:thumbsup2), being right there for CA Grill Restaurant and the TOWELS were the highlights for us.:lmao:

They are thick, fluffy, soft and new. And the tags say "The Disney Collection by Wamsutta". And there is a picture of the castle with a shooting star. I love the Wamsutta brand and I hope all the DVC's get these. Or do they and I just haven't noticed?

Have a great trip!:)

I do not require my sheets to be changed daily. I wash my sheets on a weekly basis. But I refuse to reuse a towel. How do you know which end you used before? I do not want to dry my face with an end that might have been used on my bottom. Just my thoughts, to each their own.:)

Thanks everyone for the information. I do not need daily housekeeping or tolieries. I guess I'll just pay the $ for extra towels.

I have a feeling that once the economy turns around, the resort offers will be few and far between. I have been to WDW 3x a year for the last 6 years. I think that DVC makes financial sense for my family.

That was a nice touch.:wizard:

I'm impressed, either you have a photographic memory ... or ... did you actually take a picture of the tag? :rotfl:

I have a couple disney towel "animals" here. They don't have tags that I can see, they're probably rolled up inside. These are no where as nice as the ones we discovered checking at Kidani. These are very thin & course. Disney must have changed the brand of towel they use in the Deluxe resorts. (before anyone shoots me like the star over the castle, our mousekeeper's manager told us that they are made for the guests to take home). Plus one for changes Disney has made.

They are suppose to, but they are being very slow about actually doing it. Interestingly they have the brochure in all the DVC rooms about purchasing the Disney Collection, yet they are not actually in all the rooms yet.

When we were at SSR and BCV in May and June, we had the brochure, but none of the products, except for one washcloth.

You may want to add up the additional towels, cleaning and other services and see if it still makes sense. And don't forget the annual member fees which continue to go up each year. A lot of members forget what they pay in annual fees and those can ultimately be more than you originally spend on the points.

Who is your guide? I remember my guide telling me I could get extra towels and not telling me about the cost.

I was really upset the first time we stayed.

We all use two towels each one for hair/body this is my home away from home and at home I use two. I just think they need to adjust the amount of towels they give. Four towels for four people......We need more.

It wouldn't break the bank.:confused3

To supply every room with double towels would add up. There also is not space to hang them. The current system is fair. Only those who desire extras pay extra, not the entire membership paying increased dues.

But it really would. You need to check the annual budget for linens at each resort. It's a very large number. To double it would really raise the dues.
