Hi

Family of 4 (myself, DH DD21 and DD17) will be in a studio at OKW next week :cool1: First time at OKW renting points - usually we are at BWV.

I already know that I can have trash and towel everyday for an extra $10 per day.

Couple of questions - how many bath towels are in the room? Between the three females we use 6 towels!! :teeth:

I have been told I can get extra towels for $6.....does anyone know what kind of towels they are?

Also are there towels at all the pools or do we need to bring our own.

Now I am almost sorry I didn't get a 1bdr with the washer/dryer.......

Thanks and as always have a magical Disney Day ::MickeyMo

The studio will come with 4 each - bath towels, hand towels and wash clothes. There will also be a bath mat. They will be replaced/exchanged on Trash & Towel Day and on Full Cleaning Day (if you stay is long enough).

The $6 pays for an additonal set. They are the same as the ones you find in the room when you check in.

Towels are provided at the pools.

Best wishes-

there are 4 bath towels and 4 hand towels and 4 wash rags in a studio.

the laundry mat is at the pool!!! there is a free washer (2) and dryer (4) for your use.

the machine act like they take money - trust me they don't.

just bring your detergent (disney is expensive) and fabric softenor.

send you a pm.

Some may call me evil but I know I'm not the only one to do this. We grab some extra towels from the pool for the room. I refuse to wash my towels on a daily basis. They use to provide extra towels at no charge when I first joined. I'm on vacation I'm not doing laundry.

OK Let me flame the issue You take a shower and come out clean, why do you need a clean towel??. Please pay your way with towels, if everybody took 2 extra towels just think where are mantiance would be.

DVC changed the system to what is called "pay as you play". Only basic services are provided, if you want additional items you pay for them individually rather than the entire membership paying extra dues.

We ended up taking pool towels back to our room each evening after swimming because the kids were too cold to walk back without them. We simply also carried them BACK to the pool the next day and tossed them into the return container.

They are there for our use, but I agree that taking them so that you can have "clean" towels every day seems excessive.

To the OP - I think you would end up paying $16.00 a day for your extra towels if you do trash/towel every day. They will take the "extras" I am sure. We did lots of laundry at the pool when taking a dip, but never had to wash towels as they were always dry by the next time we needed to use them. Hopefully somone else who has both paid for an extra set of towels (which I am still not clear if its a WHOLE set for your room - or simply one wash cloth, face cloth and bath towel) and had daily towel/trash.

And you probably will only have two hand towels. I don't know why, but I have only seen two hand towels in the studio or one bedroom. It was that way at the Contemporary as well last week.

And THAT is the reason they went to "pay as you play" for extra towels. First of all, I think the pool towels are grossly inferior to the bath towels in the villa. Second, what makes one person so special that they don't have to pay or launder like everyone else? Of course, some of us just hang our towels to dry and use them again the next day just like we do at home.

Why does anyone need a clean towel every day? A wet towel isn't much use I would agree but if you shower one morning the towel is dry by the next morning.

Thank you! Every time this subject comes up, several people say they get four bath towels, four hand towels & four wash clothes in a studio & in a one bedroom unit. We have been members for a long time, & we only get two hand towels in a studio & in a one bedroom unit. On our last trip we were in a dedicated two bedroom, & we still only had four hand towels in the whole unit. We got extra towels the first night because we had a plumbing problem. The engineering CM used some of our clean towels, so he brought us a handful more.

I wonder if the resort you are at makes a difference. I think at OKW we have usually had 2 hand towels in the master and 4 in the 2nd bedroom.

Anyone with experience at BCV with this. I know that there is a laundry in the building.. but is it pay? or free? This is our first time staying at a studio... sooooo spoiled by the washer/dryer in the 1 and 2 bedrooms!<G> :listen:
Nancy

The laundryroom at BCV is on the 4th floor. There is no cost to use the machines (washers or dryers) but you will have to supply your own detergent. There is a vending machine in the laundry (I think a small box of detergent is $1.00) or you may purchase in the resort shop. Many will either bring their own or get it at a local grocery.

you know - ya'll are right.

I don't even notice the hand and wash clothes - because I don't use them.

just the bath towels. there are definitely 4 of these!

but now that I think of it - the hand towels and wash clothes - were in both places - over the towels and in the sink area?

So I am still confused.

I think I have some pictures - I will look.

In an OKW 1 or 2 bedroom, we have always had two hand towels and washcloths on the bar by the sink in the shower room and another set of hand towels and washcloths on the bar by the Jacuzzi. Last time we only had 3, and then I think it was two in the shower room and one in the tub room. I do know that our guests in the 2nd bedroom have always had 4 of each.

I am ordering extra towels for my upcoming stay at OKW...NOT because I can't/won't do laundry or can't/won't re-use towels. But i will have 8 girlfriends celebrating my b' day with me and I do not want them feeling like Disney is cheap about towels! I am a DVC member and understand the towel policy but if everyone is having to run their washer and dryer everyday for a few towels and/or lugging towels from the pool to use in the villa, certainly there is a cost in that, too! Again, I am happy to pay for extra towels and will do it but I wish people would be less hostile on this board about this issue! Please y'all...let it go!

For eveyone's information, I do reuse my towels. We only take the pool ones after a couple of days. Besides if I used the pool I would be using those towels anyway. Having 4 people in a room taking two showers a day doesn't cut it with only 4 towels over a 4 day period. As I said before, they changed the policy after I joined. Am I the only one who thinks we are getting much less for our money than when we bought in?

 In defense of Karrit...

Young Children and 4 towels for 4 days is a really really bad combo...especially in a Studio (gasp the HORRORS of staying in a studio :scared1: ) with two children 5 and under.

I see no issue with wearing the towels back to the room. Should you just not use them once they're there? Those precious pool towels are only for pool use-Puleez!

There's a huge difference between those who abuse this policy and those who DVC's policy overlooks (families with young children). Why should I have to pay more money just because I have young children, who are children-MESSY? DVC should provide more towels in the room-period. They don't provide enough for families till T&T time. Just 2 extra (total) is all that's needed.

If the "membership" doesn't want to pay for two lousy towels then...why do we have towels at all-sheesh?! Heck if it'll make my dues go down I'm all for it!

OK Everyone its time to BYOT----yup Bring Your Own Towels

On with the flames...

Simba's Girl...I see no issue with wearing the towels back to the room. Should you just not use them once they're there? Those [I said:
precious[/I] pool towels are only for pool use-Puleez! ...

If you use the tool to dry off at the pool, I don't see a problem with wrapping up in the towel until you get back to the room. And then returning it the next time you go to the pool (if not sooner). It's the people who grab a stack of towels and don't use them at the pool at all that create the problem.
