Towel Thief!

But my hubby did take some extras from the pool. He only used the pool once and I didn't use it at all. He figured we still used less towels than if we both went down every day.

Nancy

I have done this. I like to have a towel to wrap my hair in after a shower while I wash/moisturize my face. The towel for my hair helps soak up water and keep my hair out of the way while I "do my face."

Since we go to the pool everyday, I just return the towel the next day when we go back.

Also, I have to be frank, but sometimes the towels you are supplied just don't dry completely. Since we stay in a studio we don't have a dryer (and we've only stayed at SSR thus far....and that's quite a walk to go and throw some towels in the dryer to dry). So having an extra towel helps. Also, sometimes you are in a situation where you take two showers a day (think hot a sweaty July temps) and again the towels do not dry.

It's not like I am taking the towel home....away from DVC property. I just borrow an extra for a day and then return it the next day when I "borrow" another.

If Disney/DVC were to be that anal about what towels can be used fo what, then I'll be waiting for RFID devices to be sewn inside of them. Until then, I will gladly borrow pool towel or two.

Oh and for some reason the "hotel" soap is the best stuf I have EVER used on my face. Even facial soaps, dry out my face, but soaps from whatever hotel work really well. So once I did ask a hosuekeeper if I could have an extra soap or two (to take home with me) and you would have thought I was asking to take home the hotel pillows.....so I don't bug housekeeping unless I have to...a pool towel that is RETURNED to the pool area isn't a biggie. It's not like were are using 5-6 extra towels, just one or two.

Often these days, you get towel animals, and these help you have extra towels! I do bring a towel from the pool as a cover up. I know BWV's hallways are chillly!!! We bring them back to the pool.

More often than not, the towels we hang on the drying line in our studio do dry.

LOL!!! I never see the seriousness in some issues!!!

Add additional laundry charges against a few hundred thousand members all "taking extra" towels, plus replenishment as the towels wear out faster for more frequent laundering. Add it to our dues. Listen to the moans and cries every year when the dues bill arrives.

Yeah..... I take the pool towels when I want to... If they wanted to limit the number of towels they would monitor it. It is clearly cheaper for them to launder a few extra than it is for them to pay someone to hand them out/collect them.

Let's say that I'm walking back to my studio and see Mousekeeping in the hallway. I ask for extra towels. How would they know if I'm staying on points or have a cash ressie? They don't and they don't ask. I know because I have done this in the past. I agree with the poster who said the towels just don't dry well in the rooms. I try to be Jiminy Cricket green and re use towels but I would also like them to be dry when I do.

Hi neighbor :wave2: We live in Spartan country too but my brother bleeds blue!

They have already started that at HHI and VB. Your pool towels are left in your villa and you are required to turn in that many towels when you leave. You don't get extra. If you choose to use the pool towels at these resorts as your bathroom towels, you may do so.

But don't complain when they remove the towels from the pool area and leave you pool towels in your villa.

Ultimately we pay for all the extras that people just take. And our dues go up.

Be careful what you "wish" for, as that's how pool towels are handled at HH. They are in the room when you arrive (one for each registered occupant) and you can exchange them for fresh towels at the pools, but they are accounted for and charged on the room bill if not returned at departure. It's entirely possible the same policy could be extended to the other resorts in the future. The HH pool towels are green/white striped, so they are pretty easy to spot - and they do need to be laundered separately.

I guess this means that our dues go up when people paying cash do this too?

People paying cash receive daily housekeeping and fresh towels at no additional charge. No need for them to take pool towels or pilfer the cart.

DVC members are "pay for play". You receive a starter pack and if you want extra between service days, you are supposed to pay for them.

For years, when my DD's were younger, we would purchase souvenir beach towels on our WDW trips. We would always take them to the pool and then had a nice souvenir towel to use at home and give us fond memories of our vacations.

The resort pool towels have always been laundered separately from villa towels. I like the idea of HH's new policy and would have no problem if they instituted that at all the DVC resorts.

For crying out loud, it was meant as a simple question, not to start a riot. :upsidedow It was my TOUR GUIDE who suggested pulling the towels from the cart in the hall, so I simply asked. ;)

All simple questions are bound to have complicated answers!
