If there is no real maid service in the DVC rooms, how do you get fresh towels? Are there even any towels in the rooms or do you have to bring your own? If there are towels, are there just one per guest? Do most members just wash their own?

Towels are in all DVC rooms at checkin.....depends on what accomodations you have how many towels you get.....a studio usually will have four bath towels, same for a 1 bedroom, two bedrooms usually have enough for eight people. You do get Trash and Towel day on day four of your stay. Housekeeping will come in and change towels and trash on that day. If you are staying longer than eight days you will have a full cleaning on day eight.
As far as washing your towels, usually when we get a studio it's just DH and I and we have enough towels to make it to day four without washing them.
However, when we go with two DS's in a 1 bdrm it's not really an issue to wash them since you've got a stacked w/d unit in your villa, so yes, I do wash them before day four, same when we get a 2 bdrm and both DS's, DD and DGS go. As far as Trash goes, since we do some cooking in the 1 and 2 bdrms we change the trash on a daily basis. All DVC buildings have trash rooms accessible by DVC'ers. SSR has a room on the ground floor of each building, right next door to the ice and vending machine area. BWV and VWL have a trash room on each floor. Don't know about BCV and OKW, but, would suspect each floor for BCV and a central location for OKW.

How about towels for pool use? Are there towels available at the pools for DVC members?
Yes - all the DVC resorts provide pool towels for their guests to use while at the pool. Look around whe you first get ot the pool - you'll soon see where to get them.

Best wishes -

If you stay 7 nights or less, you will get your trash removed and fresh towels on day 4 with day 1 as check in day. If you stay 8 nights or more, you will get a full cleaning on day 4 and trash and towels on day 8. The cycle repeats after that if you stay even longer.

I was wondering about the trash - We'll be in a Studio and have requested ground floor. Are there additional plastic trash bags available for use?

There are usually extra trash bags underneath the bag in your room's wastebaskets. If not, give housekeeping a call and someone will bring you more.

Another tip that my family and I do. Since we generally stay 8-9 days. I order an extra towel set (I think it was $8.00 bucks last year). In the set we got 4 towels, 4 wash clothes and 2 floor mats. So when one set was in the washer/dryer every one had a clean set to use.

I don't know if they changed this or not, but on our first trip in 2004, we got an extra towel bundle. When it came time for the towel day, they took the extras and didn't replace them. We would have to buy more if we wanted extras. Just something to keep in mind. Some one on here said to put the extras in the washing machine the day that they are coming and then they wouldn't see them. :lmao:

Because we are staying in a studio, I purchased two bath towels at Value City for about $6 (blue, so they are not confused with the resort's towels). They are not real thick, so I can lay them flat on the bottom of the suitcase. This way, if our towels start to need freshening before T&T, we can just use our own towels. Then I will wash them when I do our other laundry. For us, this made more sense than paying for extra towels. $6 one time cost, or $10 for each bundle we request over the course of our ownership.

It's weird, at home, we will use the same towel for a couple of days, but on vacation, we like clean towels for each shower. Go figure. We are spoiled when on vacation :cool1:
