Towel Friends

During our recent stay at PoP Century we were greeted each day by this fellow in the window.

And this little guy kept showing up all over the room.

i also got some towel friends when we stayed at WL in May. I got one almost every day that we stayed there and ended up with 6 critters that I had to stuff in my suitcase and bring home. Now they are all lined up on my bookshelf in my bedroom. My dad laughed saying that I'm 22 and how excited I was to get some free towel animal but its that disney magic that just brightened up my day. I would share some photos but for some reason photobucket isnt uploading my pics so I cant share any right now.

ooo! it worked here is a pic of mine after day four..i couldnt leave them at WL so i made room where I could in my suitcase to haul these guys and a few more home after the trip. My roommate got me the graduation mickey for my grad present which I took with me, and then I bought the pink mickey bear at the toy store in dtd b/c she was soft and i love pink!!

We didn't bring any home but should have as they were all very nice.

latrischler, Please don't get your hopes up expecting Towel Animals. Although you will see them reported (and pictures) here on the DIS, they are actually the exception, not the rule. In over 2 dozen trips we only received one once, and I was delighted!!!
There seems to be no ryhme nor reason as to who may get a towel animal. It is no more likely at deluxe than value for example. Tipping or not does not seem to impact it at all etc.
If you get one it is really fun, but don't expect them and then be disappointed.

we have stayed at WL for 4 times now and we got a towel animal just one our first visit and the past 2 we got nothing. I dont know if b/c I had a stuffed animal with me this time if that is why? or b/c we gave her a tip every day and never used to tip every day, just one large tip at the end..i'm not really sure of the change this time, or perhaps b/c she was just a great mousekeeper!? we never got them when we stayed at POR, POfq, or Poly so i guess we just hit the jackpot this trip!

We stayed at the POFQ last August and it was the first time that we had ever gotten "towel friends". We have been going for the past 10 years and this is the first time that we recieved them. We had at least one or two everyday. We were thrilled. This year we are staying at the All Star Music and I am hoping that we might see a couple there!!!!

1. We are staying at BoardWalk Villas. Do they do them at the vacation club resorts (i know they only come once or twice a week)?
2. Can you take them home? Isn't that like stealing towels? or do they expect yu to take them?

We have always received them, every trip, believe it or not. But I kind of thought it was because we always brought a suitcase full of disney stuffed animals. So everyday we came back to our room, the stuffed animals were all set up in different positions (hiding around room, watching the tv with remote in hand, sliding and swimmming down a slide and pool the mousekeeper made out of blue garbage bags, etc) and sometimes accompanied by a towel animal (at the Poly, we had a life size Polynesian man made out of towels laying on the bed....I could see carrying him home on the plane!!!) I know from reading posts on here that many do not get them, I guess we have just always gotten lucky.

Villas I think less chance then others ,But did get a horse at SSR once.


We always looked at it as stealing as well. When we left all those in the PP I ran in to the very nice Mousekeeper we had for a few days we were there. She asked why I left them and I explained my reasoning. She said that her and a very few others make them from towels that are not in circulation for one reason or another. She even went as far as stating other MKers pay them to make some so they have a stock of them as well.

SO Yes you can take them and not feel guilty of stealing a few washcloths and a towel.

We're staying at the VWL right now....there was a towel "Mickey" on the bed when we arrived (we've gotten that one a number of times) and another animal that I can't quite identify. Anyway, they were cute! DH and I are here for our anniversary and we received pins that say "Happy Anniversary" on them. Our mousekeeper must have noticed them on the table because when we came back to our room on the day she cleaned it, there was a towel display of two swans with their heads creating a heart shape on our bed! I took pictures and it's really cute! I won't be taking it home though. She also stocked our room with lots of towels, soap, toiletries, etc.. She's been great! I will say, we tipped her the first day we got here and have left tips each time she is scheduled to be here. Somehow, I am sure it has contributed to better service. Plus, I will tip when I get good service to let the person know that I appreciate their efforts!
