:woohoo: :dance3: i kknow this has been asked i million times are you allowed to take the towel animals home i leave in 5 days

Are you? How cool.... we've taken a Towel Angel home, but didn't really think we were supposed to! hahahah

We didn't take ours. I thought they sort of re-used them????? I know my son wanted to take one and I thought of calling the front desk but then I thought I ought not to. I'm curious to see if everyone else brought them home though.

No thats stealing .

The Mousekeepers sometimes pay someone to make these. Or they make them on their own time.

Please leave them for the next guest coming down if everyone takes them I'm sure Disney will put a stop to it.

You can get a book to learn how to make them. I not being a killjoy but please.

We had some real nice ones this last trip and it was hard not to take one home but we didn't.

Since this question is often very controversial, it was directed to WDW Communications for an official answer. Here was the reply:

Thanks Bicker. That's what I thought. Now I'm glad I didn't take one.

We had the good fortune of receiving these "towel treasures" on our first trip ('04 Contemporary Concierge) - I had the same dilemma about bringing them home but told my son (3 at the time) that we could leave them so someone else could get a surprise. Now that we're leaving FRIDAY (12/1)!! My DS (6, now) said he wants to check with our "neighbors" at the hotel to see if they got "HIS" towels!! :rotfl2:

I should add that I've left a zillion towel animals in my numerous stays before, I don't think they'd miss one handtowel on this one occasion; normally we photograph them and leave them.

I have stayed at disney so many times, and only once at CBR did we get towel animals. someone must have stole mine. Or maybe they can tell my dd's are a bit older? I'm still a big kid though.

We stayed onsite for the first time last year and when a Dumbo and a Mickey appeared I was so excited!
They really think of everything don't they?!

We took our towel animals home this past week. I do not feel bad about it and feel quite justified. The reason being that this note was left for us by our Mousekeeper, Cheryl. We had not asked her if we could or could not keep them. She left this note of her own free will.

Of course you can! If you don't want to, or can't because of an overstuffed suitcase, you can always take pictures.

We just got back last night from an 8 day stay at GF. We had a very cute towel duck early in our stay. I had no intention of taking it home but on the second night with the duck we found it peeking out of my daughter's backpack. I pulled it out and put it back on the counter. On the third night with the duck it was again in my daughter's backpack, wrapped in cellophane with a bow and a note to please enjoy the doll and take it home with best regards from the housekeeping staff at the GF (there were also GF wrapped chocolates in the package). The note was on GF stationary and signed by the head of housekeeping there (I haven't unpacked it yet) so it looked like a form letter/common type of thing, similar to the notes they left us every night for turndown service. I then talked to the mousekeeper the next day about the duck, she said that they do not re-use the dolls for other guests due to sanitary reasons and that at the GF the mousekeepers get the materials from the resort to make the dolls. She had no idea how the dolls were handled at other resorts.

I think the situations depend on where you are staying. And certainly if they give you a note saying to keep it then it is a gift. If I hadn't gotten the note though I would have left it in the room. Our suitcase was full so I am glad it was a small one! :p

If the housekeeper put it in writing like that, I would take that to the bank. Otherwise, I would defer to the official policy or ask the manager, not a front-line CM. (Front-line CMs will often say whatever they figure they can get away with, just to make a guest happy. When putting it in writing, they'll generally be more careful to be as honest and accurate as they can.)

Thanks for the official response bicker.
Never once thought of taking them home with us. Imho it will only limit them in the rooms and raise costs down the road. However if a note is left for you that is different.

I can barely fit my own stuff in my luggage, I don't take towels! It wouldn't even cross my mind ~ however I did have fleeting thoughts about the Mickey lamps at the Beach Club :)

When my daughter and I visited in September, we had a pair of beautiful swans left in our room. We didn't take them as they would have fallen apart and they were made of bath towels. Very cute---they were facing each other beak to beak.

On our last visit to POFQ, our Mousekeeper visited our room on the last day to say goodbye and to tell my daughter that two of our many towel animals were hers to bring home! I had never thought of taking them on prior trips. My daughter was so excited to have these as a souvenir of a special birthday trip. :woohoo:
