I just read on Touringplans that if you are so lucky as to receive a towel animal from Mousekeeping, it's yours to keep. Has anyone had experience with this? I always thought they were very cool to get, you took a picture, and that was it. Maybe it's 'cause I was always raised to believe that taking hotel towels was a felony :scared1:...but I'm having a hard time believing you can just take it with you.

I agree with you. I always take a picture and leave the towel. I do not even see how you could get the towel animal home without it falling apart.

I have great memories of my kids on cruise vacations getting all excited over the animal and taking a picture of it.

Our library has a book on how to make them.

I've never heard either way about keeping them or not, but I wouldn't want to keep them even if it was allowed/expected. What am I supposed to do with a towel animal at home? LOL

I'm pretty sure they are just for decoration...and when I stayed at CSR in 2012 we got a towel animal but when housekeeping cleaned our room a few days later (we don't like daily housekeeping) it was gone. So, I think they are just for temporary enjoyment. :)

I also read here that towel animals were made from older towels that were on the way out so it was expected you would take them but the only ones we had last trip were still perfectly good towels. We used them like the rest and left them.

We've only ever kept one....and it was just a small bunny made of a washcloth. It is STILL in my daughter's room probably now 8 years later.....

You can easily take your towel animals home with you. Just unroll them and fold them up like a regular bath towel. :stir:

Back in 2008, mousekeeping made us a towel animal each day,, they used stuff i left in the room to make creative & funny animals,, we where there for 14 nights so u can imagine our window was full,, we never saw our housekeeper but just assumed it was a woman,

On our check out day housekeeping came into the room as we where packing up and asked why we where not taking the towel animals,, international flight & weight restrictions,,, but we did take 2 very nice bunnys,

Turns out mousekeeper was male & we did tip every day.

We took them home the first time. I went to the front desk and told them I would like to pay for the towels, since we wanted to take them home with us. The CM said to just take them - she was very sweet about it.

I honestly think that while they are cute, we have no desire to take them home. What are we going to do with them? :confused3

We have enough stuff taking up space in our house that we don't need. We leave the towel animals there. ::yes::

I can only imagine kids would want them and have read on here that they make them and even pass them out to keep at hotels. I would imagine it is true. Our waitress at BOG gave my dd a rose napkin to take home...so what's the difference. Of course she loves it and it is on her shelf in her room.

We were there one Christmas and they made a little village with tree etc. we thanked housekeeping and they stated they were ours to take that they are given old towels to make. We did give them a generous tip..

We took one of the small washcloth bunnies home last year, sadly my DD got a hold of it as I was unpacking the case and destroyed it. I would love to get one again this year to put in our bathroom at home but I would only take one unless we got a different washcloth animal I would possibly take that too but so far we have only had bunnies and I only thought to take one last year as my DD loved it so much. I would not take one of the bigger towel animals, these are the ones we seem to get more often than the little washcloth ones.

I may have to hint when we are at BOG! Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourites and I have a lovely dinner set with gold Belle silhouettes and that would be a lovely addition to that table set as decoration!! How cheeky of me!!

Good grief! If we took home every towel animal we've gotten, I could've outfitted our entire house with Disney towels, hand towels, and washcloths! With the exception of one birthday cake washcloth for DD's 5th birthday trip, we've left our towel animals. :goodvibes

We have taken home done of them, at AKL we was given a toothbrush holder towel it was fab,

Also have taken a few others home was always told to! :)

Ahhhh, the toothbrush holder towels. We thought those were cute too, until we realized that the Mousekeeper had to touch our toothbrushes to get them in there....hope it wasn't right after cleaning the toilet. :rotfl2:

Are you bringing the kids with? I'd have them ask :) We had the best waitress at BOG, it was one of our favorite places to dine(even though we only had drinks and dessert). She brought the kids the grey stuff, gave dd the rose. We had great seats right in front of the window and the beast interaction was so fun!!!

The only towel animals we've ever gotten were the standard Mickey ears on the bed upon arrival. :confused3 I hope one of these times we get some. We probably wouldn't want to take it home with us(where would we put it), but it sure would be a fun surprise if we ever get one.

I've only taken one home and it was handed to me by the housekeeper in the hallway after I complimented her on it. It's from the Disney's Hollywood Hotel and I love it!
