is there anywhere that i can go to find out what vehicle can be tow dollied? we know we can flat tow our saturn vue (well, maybe not because it is awd). but, now it seems we can't tow dolly the awd. now we are looking at maybe towing our vw gli (jetta). but, i can't find anything on this.. any web links out there??

this stinks... we have a the saturn vue awd that can't be dollied, we can't tow our vw because it is too low (from what i have read). we just don't want to flat tow the vue. we feel there is too much wear and tear on the vehicle. what about taking the drive shaft to the rear axle off the vue? then put the front axle on the tow dolly..

this should save us from having to run it through all the gears (if we are thinking correct)... any thoughts..

if the saturn awd is set-up like any awd i have worked on before, getting that rear driveshaft out is a pain, not to mention that it might also have an sealed output on the transfer case that would leak fluid out and quite possibly ruin/kill the transfercase and/or transmission. most awd ive delt with were from mitsu/chrysler but i think they are somewhat the same set-up. how about renting a flat-bed trailer for towing it?

I was going to suggest the trailer, too. Uhaul usually has them.

I was also thinking trailer. Buy one big enough to put your cart on to.

You may have seen MotorHome Magazine’s annual dinghy guide. It says that the Saturn Vue AWD can be towed 4 wheels down, at least the 2009 model, so I would think you could tow it on a dolly. There are links to past years guides so you could check the actual year of your Saturn.

We would like to have a dinghy but we really enjoy having our golf cart, especially at the Fort. The two options I can think of are to put the cart in the back of a pick-up that is towed or to put a small car and the cart on/in a trailer.

Like the song my DD's sing from HSM3 ..." I want it all"

it doesn't say anything about awd for 2004. we are going to call around and see what we can find out. the trailer isn't a bad idea. it was our original thought because we could really use one any way. but, we aren't sure about parking it when we are traveling.

plus, for those who know my dh, the one he wants has a tilt bed with a flat part at the front. this way the cart can go on up front and the back would have the vehicle. but, it costs around $5,000. not really what we would like to spend right now :goodvibes .

we would just do scooters... but, i don't think my bike trailer could handle 25mph with the dogs in it :rotfl: ...

I'm pretty sure you can tow your saturn vue with no problems! We tow a saturn ion and all we do is crank it put it in drive then neutral then turn it to the accessory key position and remove the fuse! We have alot of friend that tow saturns because of the simplicity of it! ;)

so, i finally decided to go find the window sticker from our vue. yes, we keep all records and papers concerning our vehicles :goodvibes .

it says right on the window sticker "flat dinghy towable". ok, we are good to flat tow this vehicle.

it also says under the red-line package that trailer towing is not recommended. not a problem as we are not towing a trailer with it. YAY!

we didn't want to flat to it. but, we won't be picky at this point. we did find that it couldn't be tow dollied. so, we will work on buying the stuff to flat tow.

at least for now we know we can do this.. thanks....

Blue Ox has a tow bar that can be used on a saturn vue red line. has anyone used blue ox?

Where did you find this information? My thinking was that any vehicle that could be towed four wheels down could be towed on a dolly. The obvious advantage to the dolly would be that it takes care of lighting and braking. I'm curious because I hope to someday travel with a toad. Thanks...

in our vehicle book (the bible in the glove box ;) ) it said our vue awd couldn't be towed on a dolly. something with the awd. but, it can be flat towed... :thumbsup2
