TOW Observation Deck

I saw in another thread that in addition to the TOWL there is an observation deck. Is the observation deck part of TOWL or completely different? Also, is the observation deck like the one next to California Grill? Do you need reservations for TOWL or the TOW Observation Deck?

Finally, I don't know what it was like this Easter, but we are staying at BLT from July 3-11. Do you think they will take reservations for TOWL or the deck for that holiday weekend?

The TOTWL at BLT is part of the Observation Deck. You can't get to the lounge without accessing the Observation Deck first.

They don't accept reservations for the TOTWL or Observation Deck. It's first come, first admitted. You have to go to a check-in desk on the 1st floor of BLT where if there is space available, they will escort you to an elevator and using a special key send you up to the 16th floor.

From everything I have read here on the DIS, the observation deck is part of the TOWL lounge. It is also my understanding (subject to change if someone has more accurate info) that in order to visit the TOWL, you must be a DVC member and must be staying at BLT either on points or cash.

There is one slight change to this. You have to be a DVC member, or their guest, staying at BLT using your membership.

This means that, either the DVC member and/or friends/family/etc. that are also staying in a room with (or without) them can get to the TOTWL if they are using their membership to book the room (points stay or cash through member services).

This means that if you book a room for your friends, family, renters, etc. and you aren't going, they would still be able to get to the TOTWL.
This also means that the reservation MUST be booked through member services... either with points or cash. Cash reservations through CRO don't count.
