TOW lounge - how big is it?

I think the posted capacity is 77? It couldn't be more than 100 in any case. It is more intimate than the pictures make it look IMO.

I swear I saw a capacity sign posted 200-something. Maybe I am remembering it wrong. But I remember when I saw the sign, it included the outdoor viewing area too. If I remember correctly, there are about 5-6 tables on each side that seat six, higher tables closer to the bar, about 4 of those that seat 4 each, a big couchy area that would seat about 10-14. And isn't there seating at the bar too? Oh...maybe I had too many glow-in-the-dark drinks that night. It is all fuzzy...

We are going in May but are not staying at BLT. I would love to go and see it.

The observation deck has a capacity of 499.

just know that 75 people in the lounge is going to be crowded. The lounge will seat about 30 people comfortably

I can't specifically vouch for the capacity. But, we just checked out of BLT yesterday and I can vouch for the fact that the lounge is FABULOUS! The views from both sides are breath taking.

We fell in love with the entire resort, actually. At first, I was thinking that it would be nice if the lounge were open to all DVC members staying on points at any DVC resort. But, after hanging out there for while, I have changed my mind and I like it as is.

It is a nice peaceful place to go and hang with your spouse, or your traveling companion. You can see the bustle of the Magic Kingdom area while you are unwinding. It's really very nice and the decor is so pretty.

And if Brucie is bartending, then your service will be top notch too!

I can't wait to go back!

Out of curiosity, for those who have been there recently, how busy was the TOW Lounge. I am wondering if they will change the rules on who is allowed up if it is not busy enough on a regular basis.

For those not staying at BLT, but interested in seeing TOTWL...

Here's a thread discussing the BLT tour that's now being offered...
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2409835

We took the BLT tour today, and I would not characterize it as a high pressure sales pitch. We are staying at BLT, and we signed up for the tour because the DVC person at the kiosk said that new incentives were being offered for add-ons by DVC members. We went to the TOWL where they offered us pastries, fruit, bagels, juice, etc. They also gave us a goody bag with a Disney DVC pin, lanyard, and a heavy duty plastic folder (portfolio?) with a DVC logo on it. The "sales pitch" consisted of the 50-60 members in attendance playing a trivia game about Disney, DCL, and DVC resorts (e.g., how many DVC rooms are at GCV? What can DCL do that the Coast Guard has not authorized other cruise lines to do?)), and each winner getting a prize. The grand prize drawing was a $100 Visa gift card.

After the "sales pitch", which lasted about 45 minutes, the Guides announced incentives for BLT, AKV, GVC, and SSR add-ons. Supposedly, these incentives are only good for those who do the tour.

We then left TOWL and toured a BLT GV. We then went back down to the first floor to tour the pool area and the community hall. We skipped this part of the tour and talked directly with a Guide about the incentives.

I don't think this tour was high pressure because you could leave any time you wanted. At least in our case, we knew this was more than just a tour because we were told upfront it would be a chance for us to talk to a Guide about the special add-on incentives. Oh, and by the way, we got some Fastpasses. I don't think you had to talk to a Guide to get the Fastpasses.

When we went to TOTW Lounge earlier this month there were only 10 people in the lounge and it looked empty. I would think it could easily hold more than 30 people. We went to a BLT tour while at WDW and there were about 65 - 70 people there and it was pretty full. But everyone had a seat.

I wonder if they will ever open it up for private parties.

Kristine

I hope not. As an owner I would be upset if the TOTW was closed due to a private party on the night my family had planned to watch the fireworks. I know there is a risk of it being at capacity and not being able to get in, but that is different in my eyes. It would be like going to the pool and finding out it is reserved for a private party so you can't go swimming. 'Course that is just me...

it will be - it says so in our contracts.

Disney definitely has the right. remember this area does not belong to DVC - it belongs to Disney. they kept the rights.

so if somebody they wanted to impress - wanted a party there - it would happen.

We were there in early March. Most, if not all tables were occupied just before Wishes on the nights we were there. Earlier in the day/evening, I'd say at any one time, there were occupants at the bar and about half the tables.
