A bunch of people on here and a few other sites recommended this and it looks great. We joined, got the app on the phone and have set up an itinerary. My question is, if a lot of people use it, wont' everyone be going to the same ride at the same time?

It seems like a lot of people use it, but really it's not a lot. You'll be one out of a hundred who even knows what a touring plan is when you get there.

A lot of people use touringplans.com, but it's still a small percentage of WDW guests - I would guess well under 10%. Of those, only a small amount are actually using the same touring plan that you're using. And very few of those are getting to the park at the exact same time as you.

And then there are a bunch of others who are contrarians.

Huh? :confused3 When I saw the word "contrarions", I thought of a bird. Then I realized the word I was thinking of was "canaries". It was not a moment I am proud of. Anyway, I thought maybe I had missed something in my time on the Disboards, and that is why I wasn't sure what you meant. So, in another brainy moment I googled it. I know what contrary means, so I figured you were saying some people just like to disagree. However, I have still never heard that term, and I thought that being on the Disboards, we all know that people like to disagree, so it had to mean something else. Turns out the word has two meanings! A contrarion can be a person who attempts to make a profit by investing in such a way that contradicts what most people view as conventional wisdom (yep. I used Wikipedia.). Since this is not an investment forum I figured I had in fact interpreted the word correctly in the first place. No...not when I thought of the bird. Again. Not proud. Anyway, we've come full circle in that it does mean that some people like to disagree. OR.......maybe you mean that some people like to do the direct opposite of us touring plan fans and go to Disney with the no-plan plan! Eureka! I think I finally got it! I am not normally so air headed when it comes to vocabulary. I happen to love words. This is the result of a massive ulcer that is making me want to die and the medication I take to put me to sleep so my narcolepsy doesn't act up during the day. Basically I am not myself, and it's way past my bedtime, so pardon my intrusion.

THanks for the responses. I also didn't understand the word contrarian but I get the idea from the other posters that it's not a big deal.

I'm very excited to leave in 28 days for our first trip.

Yay! 28 days! I was being silly yesterday with the whole "contrarion" thing! I normally would just be like: "huh?", and leave it alone. Then I found I really wanted to know what they meant by it. The funny part is that I was able to use the word with my kids at lunch today (they are homeschooled), and my daughter said "what the heck is a contrarion?" I laughed pretty hard.

Anyway, I realized after I went to bed that I had forgotten to actually answer your question! It's a good thing it was covered by others! But really, we went the first time with the no-plan plan, and I almost died. It felt like that anyway. My parents didn't know how to use fastpasses properly, so they pulled us from one ride to another, and it didn't matter if they were all the way across from where we were. Our last trip was fantastic b/c I had learned all the best tips by then. We went without a touring plan but used the fastpasses the best possible way, and we literally only waited once for 40 minutes b/c we were by Thunder Mountain after getting our Splash Mountain fastpasses and decided to wait. This time we will take our touring plans just in case, but if we don't feel the need to use them then we won't. We just signed up for Touringplans.com about a month ago so we will have them just in case it gets crazy. The way I feel about it is this: you can have the best touring plan in the world, but it won't necessarily reflect your personal tastes. My sheets might say that a certain time is the best time to get on Tower of Terror, but I really want to ride Toy Story then, or maybe I have a fastpass for Tower of Terror I can use later so I should take the time to ride something else. At that point I will have to readjust. I think that's how most people do things, and that's why everyone is not heading for the exact same rides at the exact same times. Take your sheets in case you need them, but veer off and do what you want to do if that's what suits you at the time. Have fun!

I thought the exact same thing about touringplans.com so I'm glad to know it wasn't just me!!!! I did decide that most people would go without a plan at all so we would still be in the minority.

3 months, 2 days!!!!!!

No matter what it's a good thing to have in case you decide you need it. I had made up a tentative one myself for 2011 and strayed from it A LOT, but I had it in case I needed it. I even forgot I had it with me till just now. I probably posted before that I didn't take one! I already have my touring plans printed up for each crowd level day so if we need them we have them. If we don't need them I won't sweat it.
