I will be going to WDW with some friends to watch their 9 week old while they enjoy the award he won with his company. We will be together a lot, but there are times that I'll be touring with just the baby, Sam, and I. I realize I will not be riding Space Mountain or RnR, but what can I take him on? Will Mickey's Philharmagic be too loud? Is he too small for everything? I have never taken a baby before and just wondering what I should expect.

Any one who can give me tips or advice would be appreciated. Please don't tell me not to go to a park with him, because his parents don't mind, and at least I can watch the shows and parades.

A front carrier is great. You can shop and watch the parade and baby will be in comfort. The train ride around the park is restfull and in shade. Each baby is different so I'm not sure how this one will react to all of the noise. Best wishes and have a wonderful day of baby love :lovestruc

My DD was an infant on her first trip. We rode almost everything in Fantasyland with her (she really enjoyed the sights and sounds of It's a Small World). We also rode many of the things at Epcot. She liked Spaceship Earth, Living Seas, etc. The pictures will be priceless! Have fun!

Does the baby have a stroller that the car seat attaches to? We took our DD when she was 4 months old and if she was sleeping we just detached and went into many shows and some rides with her safely in the car seat.

thanks for the tips. I don't know if they'll be taking that stroller. I'll ask. I have requested a sling or snuggly. I figured I could use that in the evening while his parents are at dinner. Then, if it's chilly, he'll stay warm. I don't think I could do the pack all day though.

I never thought of Fantasyland rides. I'm sure he'll love the colors and stuff. He's a very good baby, and has a really loud 2 year old sister (she's staying home with friends), so I think he'll handle loud noises okay. I guess I'll try "It's a Small World" and see how he likes it. Although syrupy, it's also a little loud.

Thanks again for the advice.

In my opinion, the child is too young to apreciate anything at WDW, so whatever you do is jsut for your own enjoyment. I would avoid anything loud.

You could even get a set of headphone like ear protectors for the child. Do not use Ear Planes or stick anything into the child's ears.

Since you mentioned that the primary purpose of the trip was your friend's receiving the trip as a company award. That means your friend will be paying income tax on the value of that award.

If he were to compile his own dossier of how much it costs to go to WDW, he might uyse his own prices as the value instead of what the company declared as the value. Exact make and model and date not required. This may reduce the income tax needed to be paid. For example "I can get an AAA discount on that room at Port Orleans" or "Although the plane tickets were on USAIR, Song charges just $220. round trip". Even if the award was sprung on him just a week in advance, he might stil use ticket prices for 21 days advance purchase during a non-peak time since in general there are a few lowest price seats offered on every plane, every flight, every day. But he could not use the annual pass room rates unless someone in the party had an annual pass.

I'm taking my 8 1/2 month old during Feb. 28-March 6. I'll post when we return.

seashoreCM: I realize Sam is too young to appreciate WDW, I just wanted to know what I would be allowed to take him on (for my enjoyment) and what may be too loud for him. He'll never remember this trip, but I don't want to traumatize him, either.

As to tax consequences, I'll pass on your advice, thanks.

jmkst58: I look forward to your report. Can you pm when you return?

I have taken my DD to Disneyland since she was 2 months old. We ride everything in Fantasyland, watch all the shows and do just about anything that doesn't have a height restriction. When she was tiny I would usually push her in the stoller until we got to the ride and then put her in the carrier. In places like Fantasyland where the rides are in close proximity, I usually park the stroller and walk from ride to ride (too much trouble getting in the stroller, walk 20 feet, get out again, etc).

Now DD is 1 and we are about to go to WDW for the first time. About the only difference now is that we don't use the carrier as often, everything else still goes.

As for the noise, I usually just put my hands over her ears if things get too loud.
