We plan on using the first day of our trip (in April) to spend time at our resort and to tour SSR. Are there any questions you (all) would recommend I ask? What should I expect to happen? Will this be terribly boring for my 3 kids? How long will the tour last? I'd appreciate any information you would like to share. TIA!

Tell them how much you love the Dining plan and ask if you can get the dining plan during you visits.

Just wondering what todays answer would be.

We took the "official" tour, and were glad our kids weren't along. Our kids are pretty little, and we spent a lot of time talking about how DVC works and money, and they really would have been bored. The rest of the time we were looking around, and they would have made it through that part just fine. We didn't have many questions when we were done, it was pretty thorough, but we already own at BW and I do a lot of research, so I don't know how many questions I would have had anyway.

Hope that was at least a little helpful.

So, boring for the kids. Got it!;) We'll have to bring something along to keep them busy. There isn't a nearby play room or something?

They have a game room that you can sign your kids into for free. My kids loved it. After it is all done, you get to eat all the ice cream you want.

That would have been nice to know! I thought it was a bit odd that there was no obvious place for kids, seeing as how it's Disney and all ;) .

Yep when you go in they sign your kids up to go in the game room so it is uninterrupted time for you and your spouse to talk adult talk and such. They have video games, cartoons and other toys to play in, very nice and you do get to have ice cream afterwards.

Just think of questions as you go along that will benefit your family. They will take you to see the studio, one bdrm, and 3 bdrm villas. Very nice. Also take you to the Turf club, the spa and around the main pool. Gives you a good feel for what the resort is like. We loved our tour and of course we didn't sign on the spot but that was ok. There was absolutely no pressure what so ever and we had a great time. We took the tour on a Friday morning and called our guide Sunday to get the ball rolling :)

Also I don't know if it is something you are pretty certain on doing but buying into SSR right now has a fantastic incentive. You can buy at 83.30 a point instead of 98.

I'd like to buy into it right now but, dh wants to tour the place. I wonder if they offer any kind of discounts if you sign up on the spot or within a few days of touring.

Who knows? But lets just say (before this promotion started) that the points are 98 a point. They were offering an 8 off per point IF you called back and bought within 3 days of coming home. No pressure but there was that Disney nudge there ;)

I'm already a member, as of a few months ago. But do you think i could do the tour anyway? We are going down in a few days, but staying elsewhere. I would like to see what we bought! :) Who knows, if i like what i see i just may have to take advantage of the new deal! ;)

we did this, called our guide, said we were in town, and he spent a lot of time showing us the tour--he joked it was the easiest presentation as we allready had closed on our deal...

have fun!! :)

they have a great game room for your kids while you take the tour and do the paperwork. i did it 5 years ago and my kid didnt want to leave.

There are the model rooms open in the Springs area and you can just walk in and look around if you want. There are people there if you want to ask questions also. We did that last trip- just walked in and looked around then left - We had walked around the pool area and restaurant by ourselves. Being members since 1997 we just wanted to see what the units look like compared to the other resorts. Of course we didn't get any ice cream that way.

What! Ice Cream???

Yep, ice cream. Read on to see how. ;) We were down on a visit about a year and a half ago, staying at VWL. We loved the resort and saw ads for DVC there and in the parks. One evening I managed to catch a CM at the small DVC kiosk located in the Villas lobby and peppered her with questions. I know they're supposed to point you in the direction of a DVC guide, but she was kind enough to give us just enough info to pique our interest.

So, the day we were to fly out, we decided to see if they could work us in. Not only did they do so, but they even offered to take us to the airport (not needed as we had a rental car). Once we arrived at SSR, we were greeted warmly and our DD4 was given the option to play in the kids' activity room which had two CMs watching just one other child. There were movies, games, activities--all sorts of fun things to do. Our DD4 was elated. We spent an hour and a half touring rooms, asking questions, and never once did we feel pressured even a little. Once we finished the tour, our guide suggested we take the material home and think about it so as not to make a rash decision on our last day in FL. There was a special deal going that ended about a week later, and he did mention that, but never did he try to use any hard sell techniques. (Footnote: We did wind up buying our points before the old deal expired, though another similar offer quickly took its place as it turns out.)

Okay, you asked about ice cream. After we finished the tour, we picked up our daughter and were led to an ice cream parlor right next door to the activity room. We each ate our choice of ice cream while we waited about 15 minutes for our guide to show up with the papers he wanted us to peruse back home. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and well worth the almost two hours total we spent there as all our questions were answered patiently and without pressure to sign anything. I highly recommend taking the tour so that you'll know exactly what you're getting into. Good luck! :paw:

Ice cream sounds good to me...."hey kids, if you're good you get ice cream after this is over"....:rotfl2:
