I finally bit the bullet and purchased my first pair of Danskos today. They are relatively new in my area, and I kept hearing about how comfortable and cute they are, I must admit though that for the price they should feel like walking on clouds, instead it feels like I'm walking in wooden boxes.

Supposedly once you get used to them they are the best things ever. Is this everyone else's experience? Has anyone used them at the parks? I have sneakers and Crocs to wear, but the Danskos are a lot cuter and it would be nice to have another option. I just can't tell if they'll be comfortable enough for all day walking like at DL.

I don't have a pair, but my suggestion is to definitely "break them in" before your trip. Even the most comfortable pair of tennis shoes can make life a nightmare if they aren't broken in for your trip! I learned that lesson the hard way during a day trip a few months ago. I actually have just been wearing flip-flops to the parks lately (with cushioned soles, not just the $2.00 plastic flip-flops", because I don't like it when you go on rides like Splash or GRR and you have to slosh around in wet tennis shoes all day!

I can't help with the shoes you are asking about....but I have worn crocs at the parks and found them to be very comfortable...plain old fashioned crocs, not some of the new styles that are cuter (sadly). Our last trip I actually hurt my foot and had to see the foot Dr. who told me I must wear a good tennis shoe at Disney OR plain old fashioned crocs are actually acknowledged and accepted by podiatrists now as being ok for your feet. I switched off and did OK hurt foot and all.

I wore Dansko's at work starting while I was pregnant.
While it never felt like I was walking on air,
my feet and body never got that extreme fatigue
from being on them for 12 plus hours. I loved them!
I usually wear slippers in the parks,
but since our next trip is in January I will definitely be wearing my Danskos.
HTH!

I have worn danskos for the last 8 years, I have only had 2 pairs and they eash have lasted aprox 4 years. While they are not like "walking on clouds" they are the only shoes that at the end of a long work day (veterinary field) my feet or back arent tired...I havent tried them at DL, only crocs, but I may take them on my next trip...good luck with yours, like another poster said earlier, definately break them in before you go!!!

I just had add my opinion as I am an avid fan of Danskos. I have worn my Danskos for 8 years now and love, love, love them. I wore my Dansko sandals, that have the same type of heal as the clogs, twice for multi-day vacations to DLR. They were very comfortable and I suffered no problems our entire stay. I would highly recommend them as a good touring shoe, but do break them in.

I hate Danskos. Probably because when I wear the clogs I don't have enough ankle support and I always turn my ankle. Also, I don't understand how walking on hard wood (inside the shoe) can be comfortable. It isn't.
For what it's worth, I haven't had any luck with Crocs either (two opposite ends of the shoe continuum!).
Make sure you break them in very well, and bring a different kind of shoes as a backup.

Teva's & Nike sandals are the brand I like.
My feet get too hot when I'm at Disney.
So, no sneakers.....unless its night time.

I always pack Moleskin & bandaids and the minute I think I might have a sore spot, I put something on it.

Never ever buy shoes the night before a trip........

Remember : "Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change your life."

Peg in the pound- your picture is funny! Is that really your dog?

Anyway, yes I got dansko's a few years ago (for a Disney trip in Winter). They still feel like wooden clogs to me. They aren'y necessarily uncomfortable, but I still prefer my tennis shoes. I barely ever wear them now. Make sure you break them in, I also have a hard time walking really fast in them, I don't think they are meant for that and I am definitely a fast walker in the parks.

Asked DW, she has worn Dansko's and doesnt love them. We both have had great success with Keen's, which may not be available in your area. Go with your gut- once you break them in you may not be able to return them. I guess the reason there are so many shoe choices is that there are many preferences.

I have learned with shoes that a lot of it boils down to what you are used to. When DH and I first started touring, I read all about the right high support tennis shoes, and the right kind of socks, and even though I broke them in for two months, that trip was the most miserable my feet have ever been! I simply don't wear full shoes enough for my feet to find them comfortable. I do love the Crocs; what they lack in fashion statement, they make up in comfort! :lmao:My whole family (except my 15 yr old DS, go figure) has a pair of Disney Crocs, although my new favorites to wear to the parks are the Croc flops. They are very comfortable, and I love wearing flip-flops anyway. Just find what feels good on your feet, and go for a very long walk. If they stay comfortable it is probably your best bet.

That being said, we've all seen people walking around DLR with 4 or 5 inch heals...How can anyone do that?!?! even if you are used to it, doesn't it just hurt by the end of the day?

Also, regarding a pp on wet shoes, we carry water socks in a large ziplock bag, store it in a locker, and then when we ride water rides, we swap out. No wet feet! :thumbsup2
