Touring Resorts to see Christmas Decorations

Instead of wasting a park ticket on our arrival day, we are planning to go DTD to shop and the Yatch Club, Beach Club and Grand Floridian to see the Christmas decorations. We have ADRs for dinner at O'Hana. We will have our own vehicle, and are staying at the POP.

My questions are would it be easier to drive to all the resorts and DTD, or take Disney transportation?

If we take Disney transportation, can someone give me a suggested route? We don't care which order we do things, but I'd like to get the resort touring done before our dinner ADR.

Also, if we drive our vehicle, will they let us part at the resorts just to look at the decorations?

You could drive. Head to DTD, then over to the Epcot resorts. Then drive over to the Polynesian and take the monorail to GF then back to the Polynesian.
You could drive to DTD and then take the buses to the various resorts as well and then return to DTD from the Polynesian. Or just take buses right from POP.
This is how I would do it.
DTD, then bus (or drive) to YC/BC and BW..check them out. From there you could bus (or drive, to TTC) to MK. Take the boat over to WL, check it out and then boat to the CR and then monorail over to the GF. Then take the boat or monorail back to the Polynesian.
I add the WL simply because it is truly wonderful all decorated for Christmas.

If you decide to park at the various resorts, you should have no issue doing so.

Thank you. This is our first trip to Disney, and I have no idea which resorts are connected by monorail, boat, etc.

I will put WL on our list also.

Does anyone else have any suggestions??

I like the decorations at AKL and although I love the Poly resort anytime of year, I'm not overly impressed with their Christmas decorations. My friend and i stayed at Pop last December and toured the resorts on our last day. We used only Disney transportation and i think that really wore us out.

We will be there in a week as well. One day we most likely will walk from MGM to EPCOT and visit all the hotels. WL can be driven to or reached from a launch from CR or MK. This will be our 2nd visit with the decorations and we missed WL the last trip. Have fun. If you have time you can drive by WL after dinner on the way back to POP.
