We are arriving next Wednesday. I have been keeping my eye on touring plans crowd calendar to plan which parks to go to each day. I also learned from this board that I can check out the Per Park Crowd level. I am so confused bc we are planning to visit MK on Thursday 8/19 bc the per park crowd level is a 3.7. But, now, TP has MK as the park to avoid (but still at 3.7). I don't get it? Can anyone explain?:confused3

It's rated a 7 not a 3.7.

Magic Kingdom and the Studios have extra magic hours that day so that's why touring plans says to avoid them.

No, the OP was correct. The PER PARK crowd level is rated 3.7 for that day. Actually even the overall crowd rating is not a 7 (it is 8).

OP - the per park thing is pretty new, so people don't yet have a lot of experience with it.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page with the per park information, it does address the issue of the discordance between per park levels and park recommendations. Park recommendations take into account EMH and speical events as well as crowd levels.

The bottom line seems to be that on-site guest with park hoppers should focus on per park crowd levels while off-site guest should focus on park recommendations.

Most of the year the parks with Extra Magic Hours are listed as parks to avoid even if the projected crowd levels are low. The exception to this is when a specific park has extra magic hour every day for a week (holiday period), because they promise to make every park the best park at least once a week.

If 7 is lower than all the surrounding days, then it is possible that going to the Magic Kingdom that day would be a better choice for you. Of course having a plan is more important than crowd levels...so it might not make a difference either way.

Thanks for the replies! I hate to switch my plan around again! I see what you mean about EMH. I actually didn't realize MK had early am that day. I have actually never gotten to a park for morning EMH...is it overly crowded?

Sorry, my mistake.

We ALWAYS take advantage of the EMH if it is a park we want to go to....but we seldom stay the whole day. We will go to MK early, then leave by 11 or so. Go to a park that has no EMH that day....works well for us. Hope this helps!

if you go to a park at regular time and do not utilize that hour-- there will be MANY people already there --in line etc. By noon yes, it will be packed.
