We will be visiting both in late June. DS uses a wheelchair. Can you give me touring advice or plans for each of these parks? It will be our 1st visit to either one.

Thanks!

My wife and I went to Sea World a few years ago and I was in a wheel chair at the time. She was told she would get free admission as a disabled person assistant. I had never heard of such but was told that was Sea Worlds policy.

The show stadiums all have wheel chair viewing locations. The sea lion show wheel chair spots are on the fair lower ends which are ok but not the greatest. There are front and center spots to but you may get wet there.

All of the exhibits, aquariums, penguins etc. have good wheel chair access.

Journey to Atlantis, Wild Artic Ride, Rapids, Sky Tower or skytram rides require the ability to transfer from the wheel chair to the ride seat.

San Diego Zoo has several areas of rather steep hills that make wheel chair use difficult. Maybe someone else here has tips on how to get around. There are trams with stops along the way but not sure about wheel chair access on them.

Sea World has great wheelchair access throughout the park. The only show that isn't the best seats is the sea lion show, but there isn't a whole lot you would be missing by viewing from the sides where wheelchair seating is. You do have an advantage with wheelchair seating in the shamu show, you will have AWESOME seats (sit in the center right above the shallow pool area, don't worry you won't get wet).

I agree with the PPs about Sea World.

The Zoo is going to be different! Have you read their disabled guest info on their website? Beyond that, I'd call and talk to someone about what specific areas you will have restricted access to or not be able to get into at all. The terrain in that area is hilly. There are mild hills, but I remember some that were pretty steep and a few long sets of stairs as well. There are signs that say that the zoo, due to it's terrain, cannot provide full access with guests with disabilities, or something like that.

The Wild Animal Park is more accessible, in my mind. We were there two weekends ago and I can't think that we ran across anything that would be a problem for a wheelchair.

I would contact the Zoo and ask them. My friend went last year with Special Wish and they were very accomidating, her son is also in a wheelchair.
