We will be at the parks over Easter--not an ideal time to go, I know.

We are from Texas and go to Disneyland just about every year. We have bee to Disney World once before on a short trip like this........but while we enjoy the parks, we mainly go to visit the parks with my husband's family. Our save up, do it right, stay onsite trips are when we go to California in the summer.

Anyway, this time we are taking my husband's former stepdaughter. Does that make any sense? She is 16 and her home situation with her mom is not great. We'd love to take her in, but just had a new baby and with no financial assistance from her mom we just can't do it.

My point is.........this will probably be her only chance to see the world....on a crowded Easter weekend. If we were going to DL I would know how to get her in and out of the big points easily, but I am not familiar enough with WDW to do that so I am asking for help. Can anyone give me a MK touring plan to get the most out of the day? We will have one day at the MK without my hubby's family and thought we would do the big stuff that day. We could probably skip FL because we will hit that with my nieces. I was thinking starting at Haunted Mansion.......then getting a FP for Splash and going to ride Pirates, then hitting Big Thunder. I get stuck there.

Can you use FPs after the allotted time at WDW?

Look at the touring plans at the back of the Unoffcial Guide. If you don't want to buy one, take a pad of paper to Barnes & Noble, sit in a comfy chair and take a few notes.

You may want to check out www.tourguidemike.com. He gives excellent advice for handling crowds during busy times of the year, and unlike a book which can be outdated by the time it reaches the public, tour guide mike's site is updated as changes occur. Since this may be the 16 year old's only trip, I think it would be worth it to you to make the investment.

Good luck!

The UG plans are great and I would recommend them. If you can't, here's my two cents (assuming you get to the park as soon as it opens):

I would grab a FP for Haunted Mansion, hit Big Thunder first, and save Splash for a littler later in the day with a FP (it might be cool in the morning so getting wet so early might ruin your day. It was pretty cool in the mornings last week.) Then you can ride Pirates or Splash if it's not cool until your FP is ready. Then head to Tomorrowland for Space Mountain and Buzz. You can get a FP for one and by the time you wait in line for the other, your time might be up.

I could be wrong because I'm not an expert, but the earlier you get a Fastpass, the quicker your return time is. And the quicker your return time is, the quicker you can get a new Fastpass. That's why I would suggest picking one up early and then often. Some say you can return after the official return time, but I've never done it.

I think I read that they are eliminating the Fast Pass machines for Haunted Mansion. I am pretty sure that is accurate, but since I have read incorrect things here before, you may want to double check to be sure. I would hate for you to plan around getting FP for something, and it is no longer available.

Happy planning!

unlike a book which can be outdated by the time it reaches the public,

We've checked the touring plans in the Unofficial Guide, and they should work as listed for the new EMH schedules. While I can't speak for every guidebook, if the touring plans in the printed Guide would need to change, they'd be freely posted to the website, as they have in the past.

Hope this helps!
