How indepth should I make my touring plan? I am taking my 3 year old and 1 year old, along with DH. His brother and sister will be there, too, with 3 of our nieces. I know there will be times when we split up.

My 3 yo will have a great deal of trouble waiting in line and resisting the urge to run around. I have bought bubbles and toys that he can play with in line. I'm sure one of us will wait in line while the other takes the 3 yo to look at something else.

So far, I have 5-6 things I want to do at MK on our first morning. I want to save time, especially in line, but I also want to remain flexible. Brother in law, oldest of the 3 siblings, has been to Disney several times and is used to calling the shots. Should I go with the flow, or have detailed touring plans?

Sounds like a detailed plan with the personalities of your group is a losing situation. I usually carry a chart with "non-changables" (i.e. parades and PS's) as well as labeling which park or hotel time for morning/midday/evening.

I would say have the ride "list" in your head for pointing people in a dircetion based on wait times.

Enjoy

We've rarely had to wait at all during early entry. My suggestion would be to get up early (regardless of whether your BIL and family do) and head to the Magic Kingdom before it opens. Most kids are bright-eyed in the morning and don't have much trouble once they're actually awake. That way, your frustration level is lowered and the possibility of your 3yo getting agitated in line is lowered too. Even I get agitated waiting in line! :-)

Unfortunately, we would only be able to do MK's EE on the day we leave (at 11:45). We have PS's for a character breakfast, but we may skip it if we haven't seen what we have wanted at MK. How long should we plan for the bus ride back to the Dolphin?

Have you done EE recently? Several posts have said it is more crowded at that time.

On a non-EE day, how early can you get into the park.

we did an EE at MK. Although some have said it has been more crowded, we did not find it overwhelming at all. The only exception to that was Space Mountain for some strange reason. I find that ride so jerky, I've got to find a chiropractor afterward!

Anyway, on a non-EMH day, the park opens at 9am. We had a PS for 8:15 at Cindy's and we were done and at the Fantasyland rope drop a few minutes before 9am. We were on Dumbo's first flight! If you have an early PS at the Crystal Palace, you could then go over to the castle for the rope drop. That's what I want to do next time...never been to the CP for breakfast.
